Also, does anyone run the NT 555 Drag radial or the BFG equivalent as a daily driver? Do you think they will last a summer season or would it just be a waste of money.?
Those drag radials won't last that long... My friend wore them out in a few months

would 17 x 7 rub with an offset of +25,+40 or+48 or none if not which is best

Stock is 7" wide, +40.
So, 17 x 7, +40 is identical to stock rims in terms of width and offset.

One more wheels question. 18x8 +38 front 225/40/18 18x9 rear +35 265/35/18 the guy at discount tire says no problem he runs the 18x8 +38 on his fc so what do you guys think of the package?

The Nitto 555R drag radials do alright for a daily driver. A teacher at my school uses them on his Corvette powered 240Z, and he's been using them this entire school year. They don't look all too worn, and it's been what, over six months now.

Cool! Never had the Nitto/Toyo pleasure so I can't say myself. BTW, same company.. Kinda like Firestone/Bridgestone and Michelin/BFG, etc.

This thread is really old now.... I hope your all actually getting wheels that fit, cus I don't want you coming after me telling me your new fancy wheels rub There is alot of good info on here though.

I thought I would share. I just got my 18x8+38 225/40/18 front wheels one side cleared the strut barely and the other side hit barely. I got a set of 5/16th spacers from Pepboys and problem solved they sit flush with the fenders perfect. The rear is 18x9 +35 265/35/18 and this is perfect with no mods again sits flush with the fenders perfect have pics but no host .

Glad you got it to work without a big hassel... BUT

Put longer studs in your hubs as soon as you get a chance... you've just taken away over 1/4 inch of thread contact from your lug nuts!!

(PS.... 5/16th = about 8mm....... now you know why they to shoot for +30mm wheels for 8 inch rims and 225 tires!!!)

Any idea on where to get longer studs and what length to look for?

I have looked thru this thread and you seem to be the guy to ask... Please forgive me if someone has already asked this question but I did not see anyone talking about 19's in this thread..

Here is what I want to run an my S5 FC3S TII.. I know it will sound crazy..The wheels I want to run are only offered in these sizes so I need your opinion on if you think they will fit and which offset to buy.. Want to fit this will fit under an all stock body with only Rolled fender lips..no flares no kits..stock body with rolled fender lips only..
Here are the offesets I can choose from:

Front: Rear:
19 X 8 +36 19 X 9.5 +35
Or OR
19 X8.5 +31 19 X10 +36
OR
19 X8.5 +36

Tire options:
Front: 225-35-19 or 225-40-19 or 235-35-19
Rear: 265-30-19 or 275-30-19

Out of these choices, what do you think fitment wise would work the best...

Thanks for your help...

I hope Ted chimes in on this,

but the best "fitment" i can get is with the 225/40's on the 19x8's +36 in the front... but.. the tires diamter is 26.1 inches......

in the rear.. the 19x9.5 +35 with 265/30's should fit in the rear... but its going to be DAMN close to the swingarm ,like a couple of milimeters... if that, depending on the tire brand, you will need spacers to make it work.......... 275's wont work and 19X10's +36 wont work with either tire...

Also... the front tires are going to be 1 inch taller than the rears... i don't like that at all...

Also... GEEZUS... who wants to spend over 1000 bucks on TIRES???????

Dude..... Look at some 18's.. seriously.... I don't like the choices geiven at all.

I didn't bother cause I think 19's are kinda ridiculous.
One good pot hole and kiss those rims goodbye!
225/40/19 is just too tall.
I haven't figured out 225/35/19 rolling diameter, but I did look at prices on Tire Rack - min $200+ per tire.
I didn't even bother trying to price out the rears!

I like 17's on FC's.
I think 18's are too big.
I think 19's are just scary...

Well guys I figured this would be the type of response I would get... Same type of response I got when I put my first set of 17inch wheels on my FC back in the early 1990's.. Back then, 17 inch wheels were cutting edge Technology and the automotive world was still scared of them.. I was told by everyone,"They will not fit", "You will blow out a tire if you hit a pothole".. Why would you spend that kind of money on tires?" "That's stupid to put wheels that big on a car!" Seems like time has not changed much.. Anyway I am going to move forward with this... The wheels are forged so potholes will not be an issue, and it is not a daily driver.. I will save the potholes for my 2005 Tundra which I drive daily...they are race wheels and are light weight so that will not be an issue... Once I get them ordered and on on the car, I will post up pics so that everyone can see how they look.. I understand that some people are not big fans of large wheels so if you think that they will look stupid, or that it will not work or fit, that is ok with me.. I have always done things my way and gone a different untraveled routes in life and this will be no different.. I have wanted to put 19's on my FC since I first saw 19's on a SL Mercedes 10 years ago.. Back then the tires where over 600.00 each and only a few very high end designer wheel companies made 19's.. They where about 6000.00 to 8000.00 back then and was out of my price range.. Today, I can have the whole setup for less than $4000.00... Still exspensive but what the hell, why not??? I make decent money these days and my company is growing and doing well..

I am going this route:

Fronts: 19 X 8.5 +35mm with a 1.8 inch outer polished lip and a 235-35-19 tire. Overall height 25.47 mm

Rears: 19 X 10 +36mm with a 2.75 inch outer polished lip and 275-30-19 tire. Overall height 25.49 mm ( My tire guy is going to order in some 285-30-19 tires just to see if they will clear..curious to see for myself) Probally will stick with the 275's

So the height is almost a perfect match ront to rear (only a .02 mm difference)

In deciding to do this, I compared what 19's would be like to 18's
18 X 8.5 with a 235-40-18 tire overall height 25.40mm
18 X10 with a 265-35-18 tire overhaul height 25.30mm

My friend has this 18inch setup on his car and there is still plenty of room front and rear.. He has about a 1.5 inch gap on the fron and an almost 2.5 inch gap in the rear..

My setup will only be .07mm taller in the front and .19 mm in the rear.. I think it will work and my wheel guy feels the same.. I am ordering the wheels this month.. They are special order and will take 6 weeks to arrive from Japan.. Wish me luck!!!

heya, need some help

I read thru all of this and i am getting real confused, so i think i am just gonna ask if these will fit.

HP Racing EVO Rims

18x8 +38 offset (FRONT & REAR) all the same on all 4 corners.

I have a stock t2 10th AE. Will these rims fit in the front and what tire size should i go with. I like to have a flush look not sticking out. So please let me know! THANKS!!!!

Yes with some aftermarket coilover kits.
No with stock type springs and struts.

A small spacer will allow them to fit up front - like 1/4" or 6mm.
Fitment in rear is not a problem.

This is my rear clearance to the swingarm... Tires are 245/45/27's with a 9.7" section width (actualy measurement as mounted is 9.725) on 17x8.5 +39 rims.. thats about 10-12mm of clearance there....

you are going with a tire on a wheel that will yield around 16mm more width on either side of the centerline than my setup and you are only pushing the wheels out by 3mm more...

your setup is going to push the tires towards the wheels by about 13mm MORE than what my tires are... IE.... you are going to hit the swingarm.

You really need to go with a lower offset, like +30 or i really thing you are going to end up having to run spacers after spending all that cash for the wheels...

Well, I wish I could order it with a lower OFFSET but +36 is the lowest when going 19 X 10...I have a set of extra lower control arms that I can always notch/box and weld up..or just run a 6mm spacer which is not a big deal.. I will have to wait and see what happens once the wheels arrive and I get the tires mounted... I do not know if anyone has put 19's on an FC so this is kinda some guess work.. Thanks for the heads up and the help.. You are the only person so far who has not been critical of what I am trying to do with Wheels and tires for this car.. Wheels should be here in 5 weeks.. I have placed the order and will start looking at tires this weekend..
