hope they make the right offset to fit those tires....I'm sure they only carry certain offset and cannot go in 1mm steps..like the custom wheel makers...

Well let's do the arithmetic to calculate 9 x 18 wheel offsets shall we?

According the Rack's spec link for the S-03 the 255/35-18 has the following measurements:

Overall Section Width 10.3 inches and Overall Diameter of 25 inches.

We're not worried about the OD because that's stock. We are worried about clearance up front.

In general 3.5 inches frontspace and 7 inches of backspace are maximum dimensions for front wheel well clearance for FDs using stock sized springs.

If we go by the overall width of the 255/35-18 tire, 10.3 inches in our calculation we'll be assured of proper fitment: Actually we know the answer to this question, as I've already posted the info on page 1 of this topic. With a little manipulation--backspace should be 7 inches, frontspace in this example will be 3.3 inches (well within 3.5 inches maximum) and offset will be 1.85 (47 mm). If you want to be safely away from the left-front fenderlip bolt, I'd go with a 51-52 mm offset up front for the 9 x 18.

Clearly the tire size you choose will be "driven" by the available wheel offsets in the 18-inch wheel sizes you're looking for.

PM Rishie for your needs,as he'll be able to help you weed through the seeimingly endless wheel choices.

If you were poor like me, choosing would be MUCH easier :p

Best of luck

Do you know the right off-set i need? Then i can see the available rims at that offset. I hope they have the volk racing LE37's in that offset..

btw, are these the LE37A or LE37T rims im talking about? the ones that are 6spoke in gunmetal with a polished lip.

I'm not the Volk expert, but I'm fairly sure that you won't find the Volks in a 47 to 52 mm offset in a 9 x 18. Probably the highest offset you'll see a Volk come in is 44 mm. If that's the case, then Tire Rack's conservative suggestion of 235/40-18 for the 9 x 18 will ensure proper clearance tolerances! The tire height of the 235/40-18 is slightly higher than stock, so beware; that could cause minor rubbing if your car's lowered significantly up front, especially in the left-front position.

Best of luck!

Ok, Ive found my tire and now i need a rim. If the Volk Racing LE37 wont have the right offset then i have to go rim hunting. Any suggestions are welcome. What rims do you guys think i should get. and would meet the offset range?

Yeah JoeD's suggestion is ideal if you can find the 245/35-18 tire size:p

I think you'd better take this question to the Suspension/Wheel/Tires/Brakes Forum :p

Happy New Year

1fast7,

What is your budget for rims...$2k- $3k and up...
style you like...we know volk 6 spoke...but I seriously doubt volk makes a 18x9 in the correct offset needed to run 255's up front..you may need to consider 18x8.5...any particular reason you want 18x9's ?...it's very tuff decision about wheels..because you will spending big bucks on 18's and you wanna be happy for the long haul..unless you got endless dough

I will move this to the suspension/wheels forum...I've been thinking about doing this for a few hours already...why..

well JoeD, SleepR1 and myself are always in there....and it will get exposure to Rishie (ARDT2) who might not otherwise see this since he has a t2...

In my very humble opinion, I think going custom is the best way to get what you want. If I had the scratch, that's what I'd do. Perhaps, I'll persuade my sponsor to hook me up

youll be surprized if you see mow many sizes and models of tires are NOT listed in tireracks site. if you go to the actual manufacturers website, and look at the sizes they make for certain models of tires, you can find many that are not listed in tirerack.com.

Yup... I agree custom is the way to go and that's what I did too...so if I want to run 255's in front I dont have any issues...

But likey the wheel cost may go up $1k...

Rishie (ARDT2), Please post on this topic. I need some help on which route i should go. 285/30-18 and 245/35-18 combo or 285/30-18 and 255/35-18. I want the Volk Racing LE37T to work. Unless there is a better looking rim for about the same price that will work. what should i do?

50 offset would be great with a 18x8.5....but 285's on a 8.5 I dont recommend...might be to much side wall flex.....

lets say you stay with S03's...with 18x8.5 all the way around you could run.. 255x35 all around... or 235x40 (front) and 255x35 (rear)

you really should have a 9 inch rim to run 265's..that's why I kinda recommend 255's... I think that will look pretty cool.

Rishie is trying to have a vacation....

yeah custom will run you atleast $3k and up for the likes of Forgeline, Fikse, HRE, Kinesis, Simmons....

CCW's might be an option of you like mesh style...becuase that's all they have.

Well, if i run 255/35-18 all around what would be the offset i need for the rim?

I think i still want the Volk Racing LE37T. If i get the 255/35-18, would the 18x8.5 be good or could i get a wider rim?

I'd probably still get 50...for both... I only question would be if you will need 2.5 coilovers...probably not I'm thinking...My mechanic runs 255's on 17x9.5 forgeline RS...I'm know he does not have 2.5 coilovers..but I dont know his offset either..

255's on a 8.5 would be fine(8.5 is the min rim width recommended for 255's)...the lips wont stick out for sure...if they make a 9 inch rim or a 9.5..then you could move back to 265's...again keeping the offset in the high 40's-50

they make that rim in 8.5, 9, 9.5, and 10.5... They arent exactly high 40-50 range. The only one that is close in the 18x10.5 which in 45 offset.
