Calculated stock is 811..

Tires mfg is ?? R's came with S0-7's and I dont know what the rest came with...so I'd stick with comparing to calculated 811 rev/mile

811 goes for rear as well right?

p.s. Is it better to get 2 different sizes, one for front and one for rear? or better same size alll around? I dont mind about rotating so that doesnt matter for me.

Tire Rack had apparently bought up all BFG G-Force R1 and R1As that were available from the BFG factory. I still can't understand why BFG got out of the sports car DOT comp radial scene. I guess the import drag wars had more publicity potential? I'm surprised you have 245/45-16 BFGs. I should have bought multiple sets back when the Rack's inventory was full of BFGs. The price was sweet too. The Rack's currently low on BFG R1, R1A stock, so you'll eventually need to switch to Hoosier once you wear out the BFGs. Trust me you'll like the Hoosiers. If you can believe it, Hoosier is 1 to 2 seconds faster per lap at Putnam Park than the old BFGs were!

Sorry stock is 811 for both because stock is 225x50x16 for all 4...personally I like the staggered look wider wheels in back, but that doesn't mean the diameter cant be close...problem with wanted to running something like 285x30x18 all around is that you would have to have 2.5 coilovers and be damn sure of your offsets...It gets complicated...Manny (sleepr1) has posted some good info on size and offsets and I am in total agreement with his numbers..

I would be better to have the samesize all around if you where going to track the car, because if you have made all the other correct suspension modifications..you would be surprised how neutral the rx-7 really handles...slightly larger in the back will give you slight understeer..

Looks like i'll be going with the Toyo Proxes T1-S tires. I'll get 18x9 rims in the front and 18x10 in the rear. As for tires i'll get 245x35x18 for front and 275x35x18 for rear.

tell me what you guys think? Should i make any changes? thanks

great advice guys, thanks alot
i have just one more question, if getting a 285/30 tire was not possible then could i pull off a 275/35 or would that still be too big? would i have to go with 265s?

275/35 is too big. 265/35 is also quite taller than stock, but it is acceptable. 255/35 or 245/35 would be much better, but dont expect too much traction with those is the back.

No I think that will be a GOOD setup on 9's and 10's...Please go read the thread on the 2nd page of the 3rd generation section called "ordered my wheels" SleepR1 gives excellent info on tire size and rim offset and well you will see how much my rim lips stick out..There are attachment so you will have to click on them..

my set-up is 235x40x18 on 18x9's and
265x35x18 on 18x10's..all four tires yoko AVS Sports..

I will definately go either 255x35 or 245x35 in front nexttime and
275x35x18 or 285x30x18 in the rear.. If your toyo work out...that may be the exact size (245/275) I go with nexttime...

thing is toyo specs the rev per mile at 812(275x35)...calculated stock is 811..
so it looks pretty good to me............

but then again they say the diameter is 25.6 which is tall compared to stock 24.8 ish...maybe toyo's calcs are screwed up...

would be nice to know the exact spec on the the types of oem tires the FD came with...I'm sure there are difference between the R and non R models eventhough they all came with 225x50x16 rubber...for example tirerack numbers of AVS sport in size 265x35x18 differ from 95y to 93Y rated and it's quite a big difference for tires of the "same" size

Yeah, 1-inch wider in back dials in a slight bit of understeer out on track, at least on my setup...nothing major or annoying, but a driving style change was needed. I was able to turn quicker laptimes with the change so maybe inherently the staggered might be better? The staggered setup on the road, probably won't be noticeable...

I've changed my mind now. I am getting tires that come in 245/35/18 and 285/30/18. But im debating on which tire i should get now. Either Pirelli PZero System Asimmetrico or Bridgestone Potenza S-02. What do you guys suggest? For best performance and duribility on street? thanks

I checked Tire Rack's website. They show nothing for those sizes. I did a search for FD Rx7 18-inch applications. The website spit out 235/40-18 and 265/35-18. The Rack shows 11 choices, one of which is the Bridgestone Potenza S-03. Excellent tire, and the price is reasonable as 18-inch tires go (surprisingly not much more than the supposedly bargain basement RE730!). I checked the S-03 specs for rim width ranges, and the 9 and 10-inch wide rims are well with 235 and 265 mm section widths, respectively. The slightly taller 25.4 overall diameters shouldn't impact acceleration and speedometer accuracy very much--it will be a very subtle change. Here's the link for the S-03 tire specs--see for yourselves http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...+Pole+Position

Best of luck and Happy New Year!

Just to let you guys know Toyo has redone their RA-1s. They have a new compound for it and it is sticky as hell. The damn things are so soft and i can't wait to try them out. From what i know they are going to start really promoting them in 2002.

All I can say is that S02's are GREAT!.. but you cant get them in 245x35x18...so you are SOL....

Honestly I have great thing about Pzero's too...so that looks like you only choice anyhow...

This looks like a great setup. Thanks, I will most likely go with these tires in the sizes you listed, 235/40-18 and 265/35-18.

Thanks again

Cool 1FAST7 Redux

Tire Rack search number two. This time I think we've got the solution...ready? Here goes--Fronts--255/35-18 and Rears--285/30-18. Guess what? Tire Rack has 3 choices, and the S-03s are one of the choices (yipee!). Here's the link:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...peed_rating=ZR

If you click on the S-03 tire spec link you'll see Bridgestone's spec rims for the suggested sizes are the very rim widths 1FAST7 has 9 x 18 and 10 x 18! Woo Hoo! Now you can be assured of the numbers (no guesswork). Note that the overall diameters are within stock ranges of 25 and 24.8, respectively! Here's the link:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...+Pole+Position

Problem solved! Let's go have some beer! :1party:

Well if the wheel is gonna stick out then i might have to go back to the other size ( 285/30-18 and 245/35-18)... I dunno, im kind of confused. Maybe i should just get the Pirelli PZero System Asimmetrico in the 285/30-18 and 245/35-18. Many of you say this sizing is very good and you cant beat it. any help welcomed.

yeah tire problem solved....Now he has to worry about rims and whether that they are made in the offset that will allow those tires...especially the fronts.. I know I can fit em...but he never mentioned rims and offset... I love it

Can you tell us the rims and offsets that you plan to run...this will help you choose too...do you have 2.5 coilovers ?

Those Bridgestone potenza S-03 tires on the link are all Y-rated... Is that fine or Z? Do they make Z-rated S-03 in the same sizes?

I want the Volk Racing LE37T i think they are. They are the ones that are 6 spoke in gunmetal with a polished lip. Are these the LE37T or LE37A?

wrapped in bridgestone potenza S-03 285/30-18 and 255/35-18.
