18x9 +37 GT-Ns are a high pad rim, my sheet dosen't show a 18x10 +42 but it has a +43 which is a mid type rim. The pad hight has more influnance on the effect of rim depth than offset. You should try to find a volk dealer in your area so you can see and measure to find what you like, or maybe it's time to buy that body kit after all it's only money

GTNs

Alright, i've been taking a look at the offset and rim depth chart for the GTNs...and i have a couple of questions...

you think i could run a 18x9 in the front with a mid-type (B) rim with a offset of +36 and a rim depth of 75mm?

you think it's possible to run a low-type rim (C) for the rear with a offset of +44 or +32 with rim depth of 88mm and 100mm respectively?

or maybe a mid-type rim (B) in the rear with +36 offset and a 88mm rim depth?

with a low type rim for the rear...i'm guessing it won't be feasible to get big brake calipers in the future?

what about with a mid-type rim? would it be possible to upgrade the brake calipers to a larger size in the future?

i know with these offsets i'll probably rub...but i'm thinking i might just take the car to a body shop and have the roll out the fenders a lot to give me as much clearance as possible.

so if i do take it to the body shop, what's the deepest rim depth you think i can achieve according to Rays Volk Racing Chart for the GTN? or GTC?

I finally figured out where you got the rim depth at. So here's another option for you. GT-C rims, face 1 for the ft 18x9 +43 mid type with 69 rim depth and face 2 18x10 +44 low type rear with 81 rim depth or if you can live with a face 1 on the rear 18x10 +47 low type with 88 rim depth. It seems the face 1 has more rim depth for the same offset. The question is can you fit a mid on the front and low type on the rear? If you can get the GT-N rims off the black FD you pictured put the rear rims on your front to check caliper clearance as they are both mid type, if not let me know and when I get mine I can check for you, or call Mackin (Volk importer) at 562-946-6820. For your offsets I have seen people post that 18x9 +40 will fit on the front with a 245-35-18 and not rub maybe their car was not lowered but I don't think a 18x9 +36 will fit without modifing the body (more than just a fender roll) as it will probally extend outside the fender. There is room to enlongate the upper control arm bolt holes to move the arm toward the center of the car. I moved mine 4mm to give me a little breathing room as i don't want to damage the fenders. For the rear 18x10 +43 are just about flush with the body, this is what I was sent instead of the +49 that I wanted and I tried them on the car with the shock removed and moved the suspension though it's travel. To my supprise it cleared the inner fender lip but I wanted more inset so I opted to wait for some +49. So anything more than a 18x10 +43 is probally going to rub without modifing the fenders. Keep searching as sleepr1 has put together a good database of info on fitments in this section

I'm not understanding something.

What the F*ck is this mid-type/low type **** as related to offset??

Off set is a measurement from the center line of the rim to the mounting surface. The only variable should be the ACTUAL width of the rim (i.e. a 10" wheel may not be exactly 10" wide).

Two rims of identical actual width, with the same offset should have exactly the same backspacing and frontspacing, regardles of how the manufacturer shapes the mounting surface and spokes etc.

In other words, why this "mid-type +43" OR "low-type +38" stuff? its a fixed dimension.

Mid-type, low-type, and high-type is specific to Volk Racing's new line of GT-series rims. if you took a look at the rays website, you'd know what we're talking about.

just look at the links that i posted to the wheel size/offset/rim depth chart and you'll see how the offset and type effect the rim depth.

Recieved my volk GT-N rims, and trial fitted the mid type on the front and there was still 13mm of clearance to the stock caliper. So if you want rim depth they fit. On the rear the mid type had about 25mm of clearance so a low type should fit with no problems. Ptrhahn, you are right, the pad type does not change offset. A high type wheel moves just the spokes toward the outside of the rim to gain caliper clearance but it loses some of the polished lip of the rim. Hard to explain, easy to see

Help with rubbing

Hello everyone, the front tires on my FD are rubbing something fierce and I'm hoping for some advise. I have eibach 1" drop springs, 17x8 wheels with +38 offset, and 245/45/17 Kunho ecsta mx tires that want to pull my fender lip out every chance they get even with a roll. I need to know which you would go with that would give me the least chance of rubbing, 235/45/17 or 245/40/17?

Thanks for the help!

You are running tires that are a full inch too tall! 245/40 is the proper size.
