will fwd wheel work?

i was wonding if it is safe to run wheel's from a fwd car on my 1st gen. i have a set of very nice 17x7 enkei wheels i had used on my jetta that i am considering using until i can get my lowering springs, 15's, and get strechies.

i would just test fit them but i dont have tuner lugs for it "vw ones are bolts rathen then nuts so i cant use them" and i really dont want to buy some that will not end up being used

wheels are 4x100 bolt pattern. im not sure of the backspacing or anything else, they came on my jetta when i got it

Drivetrain has nothing to do with wheel fitment. Bolt pattern and clearance are what matter.

also wasnt aware that the 1'st gen's are 110, i was fed some wrong info

When people talk about FWD/RWD wheels they're usually talking about the offset.

But try reading the 1st gen general faqs thread. https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/1st-gen-rx-7-faq-page-237777/ You should also learn how to use the search function as well.

i did use the search function, but didnt find any promising results. course i was searing for wheel offset rather then lug pattern. i just went through the faq and that was very helpfull. my wheels are multilug, so i am going to measure them tonight and pray they are 110.

thanks for the help so far guys

no way are those 17's going to be a 110X4 bolt pattern. You can get konig rewinds like most. 17 are a bit large for the first gen also. I've seen it done and look good, but it could look really blah. for lack of better words. yeah there is a clearance issue with alot of fwd tires in the front. I've been searching for 15 inch mesh's.

like i sayed im just trying this out, but will be buying wheels in a month or so with new strechies. just trying to save up the cash. since i already have these wheels it's worth a shot. i would just pop a wheel off mine and test fit but the weather here has been terrable and my jetta is taking up my garage

getting 15 inch xxr's. 5.5 front 7 rear

i get them at cost, there not the best out there but cheep and will look a lot better then my pathetic 13's
