So, I've just purchased a 98' RS from Japan (it'll be here in a couple of months). I REALLY dislike the aftermarket rims that are on the car and want something in place of them. The import company has agreed to swap them out with something else.
I'm looking for something reasonably priced so that I can stick near to what they're offering as a price offset for the rims that are on the car now (see image below). I've found it rather tough to find rims that have the proper offsets, so I think that I may have to settle with one of the below options (for now). With that front offset (+38) I'm probably looking to roll/ pull the fronts a bit (as research has led me to believe) or go with some FEED fronts. My question is in regards to handling and how having the wider tires in the rear (staggered set-up) to the 9.5" all-around (square) affects the handling of the car? This will be primarily a weekend car during the nicer months here in southern Ontario and I'll likely track it from time to time. I did read that Howard Coleman likes the 9.5/ 10.5 staggered set-up with the spring rates 8k/6k...I know that there is an aftermarket suspension on the car as well, but I do not have the specifics at the moment.
Curious to hear your experiences with the below (or similar) set-ups to gather some insight on this.
The wheels in the grainy picture look like Yokohama Super Advans which are extremely popular on older Japanese cars. I don't particularly care for them, especially on the FD, but people love them.
Ended up picking up a set of 18x9.5 's +45 (235/40 front 265/35 rear)...should fit well. Might play around with spacers depending on where they line up when I get them on the car.
