What tires are recommended for fd?

I found a screw stuck in my tire today. Can anyone recommend good tires?225/50/16 . I would like to get 205/55/16 in front, but the oem rims are 16x8. My choices are yokohama avs-es100, bf goodrich geforce sport, yokohoma yk420, perreli pzero nero m+s, BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDWS, Barum Bravuris. Has anyone used any of these tires? Also is it bad idea to get ultra high performance tires? It rains somtimes where i live, but it never snows.

you want to get AT LEAST 225s... I have 245s all around, and love it.

Dude, this is a high performance car. What's the deal with wanting to put 205/55s up front? At the least, you should be running 225/50 (stock size), but you can move up to 245/45 16s with no issues.

High performance tires handle better in the rain than all season tires. Of all the tires you listed, the BFG KDWS is the only good tire. Search in the Suspension forum for others...we discuss them all the time....

i've been wanting to get the yokohama aves es100's for a long time. i'm gonna get 'em when i need replacements. from what i've heard those're really great tires for the price. for stock rims they cost around $87 per tire, damn good for ultra high performance w-rated tires. the avs is also yokohama's high end line up, tho advans are the flagship. my friend has pzero nero on his wrx on 18" rims. he says they're not that sticky. i personally think you can't beat es100 for the price. as for rain, being that the es100 are ultra high performance summer tires, probably should expect it to be a bit slippery in wet. but i think FD's deserve worthy and purposeful rubber

I've got Avon Tech M500's , and have been a great tire. Most people haven't heard of Avon, but they're a European company that is well-known among sportbikes and formula cars. 245/45R16 fits just fine on stock suspension.

Porsche puts 205/55/16 in front with 225/50/16 in rear.

Ok well then I get 245/45/16 for rear and put the 225/50/16 up front. You guys sure the 245s fit no problem on fd? It wasn't listed as an option at tire rack, or discount tire. Discount dont know anything cause they think 205/55/16 will fit on 8 inch wide rims.

i like my es100s, but would probably rather have s03s if i could afford them just because they are good in both wet and dry.

That's because its a boxster, and 205/55/16 is on a 7.5 inch rim

Comparing rear-engined Porsches to an FD is probably not a good idea.

I have the AVS ES100 and love em. I went up to the 245 45 16's though. The car feels so much more comfident and sturdy with the bigger tires. I have not yet really tested them but they are great in the corners and in the rain.

On what car, a 20-year old 911? Mazda used to put 205/55 16s on 2nd Gen Turbo IIs, too. Or hey, how about the 85s with 195/60 14s? WTF does that have to with anything?

The Yoko AVS ES100s are mediocre tires at best...you can spend a little more and get significantly better performance -- in the dry and in the rain.

This is a high end sports car. Everything you do -- accelerate, brake, corner -- goes through the tires. Buy proper tires. All season tires are for a Camry. Enough said.

^True that
275/40/18 back 245/40/18 front. Moral of the story don't go narrow unless you want snow tires. Its about traction.

No complaints with the S-03's. However, my next set will be Fuzion ZR-i's. I've noticed they handle really well for the price range.

Those tire sizes are wrong....the fronts are a full inch too tall and the rears are a full 1-3/4 inch too tall! Change the 40s to 35s and you're getting somewhere.

I've been running Yokohama AVS dBs for 4 years now. They've seen a few track days, and some very spirited driving and still REALLY grip well. But I think it's time to upgrade... I'd like to go with Yokohamas again if I can.

Does anyone know what happened to the Parada 2s? Does anyone run them and/or recommend them?

yes i would like to know the specs on the new parada as well, i had the old parada's on my civic and i loved them 225. i been lookin for some tires myself but i dont want to spend too much. i thought about so3's but my pockets arent that deep. do nitto 555 come in the 245 size? or even the parada spec II. i tryed lookin for them but i couldnt find them in that size but it could be that the site just didnt have it.

It doesn't look like the Parada Spec 2s come in very many sizes. It looks like the largest size listed on tirerack is 225/35 YR19! No R16s as far as I can tell. @#$@# I really like these.

Someone mentioned KUMHO ECSTA MXs in another post. They are 220AA and about $140/ea. I don't know much about Kumho, anyone?

I had the kumho mx 225/45/17 on my fc and they are a world better than my friends es100 in the same size. They wore out in a year and i got hankook rs-2s about two months ago and they are slightly better than the kumhos in response and grip. On autox forums the rs-2s are considered to be equal in performance with the new azenis

sleeepyhead... how many miles would you say you got out of the kumho's? did you track or autox the car a lot?

I realize it's a softer compound than the Yokohama Avs dbs I currently run. Those have pretty decent grip... I used them on Lime Rock and they held up well. I've got about 30k out of them. Seriously considering going with those again...

One other quick note about the Kumhos... and I would say, any tire with a tread rating of 220 or so. Are these tires not going to grip good in the colder months. I love driving my car around during november, before the road gets too sandy. The turbos LOVE the cold, and the car is so much fun. Can I expect the same (or better) grip from my Yokos which are rated at 320AA in the colder weather?
