do worn shocks / swaybars squeak?

hi all,

i've noticed the rear area of my FD has started squeaking. i've noticed it progressively getting worst as i back out of my drive way.

basically it squeaks when the rear gets pushed down and rebounds up, like when my rear wheels roll off from my driveway to the road, or when going over speed bumps. it is a high pitch squeak.

i am sure it is not in the cabin, as i can hear it much louder with the windows down. all of my 8 rear suspension bushings have been replaced less than 2 years ago by an experienced rotary mechanic. so i would like to rule out the bushings unless they need lubricating.

i want to say its the shocks, as it is coming out of the rear wheel wells. but can it be also the sway bars? do these parts make a high pitch squeak when worn out?

thanks in advance,
chris

well does it squeak only on bumps? its the rear shocks rubber parts worn out most likely. if it squeaks on all turns it could be the sway bars. go rock the car see if u can hear it.

its definately on bumps. when you say "...rear shocks rubber parst worn out..." do you mean the rear shocks, or the rubber upper mounts? or both?

i tried pushing down on the rear repatively, can't hear anything. but i'm very sure it squeaks when the rear is doing an up and down motion. i can really hear it when the rear tires roll off of a speed bump. right when the tires get off the bump, and the rear compresses down then springs back up, thats when i hear the high pitch squeaking noise the most.

its most likely the shocks and the mounts are bad.

the rx7 has a problem with the rubber supports above and below the springs wearing out. look through the wheel well. is the rubber sagging? can u see the silver part of the shock through a torn boot?

I have this squeaking sound too - its pretty loud. I can push down on the rear quarter panel of teh car and hear the squeaking ... what exactally am I looking for ?

Is it the torn boot that allows water to get to the shock and hence squeak?

I haved the same problem. It was my swaybar mounts. You can check it by spraying some WD-40. The noise will go away after couple of spays.
