upgrade to '99 spec brakes

For those using 99 Jspec rear calipers/rotors, what calipers/rotors are you using on the front and how happy are you with your selection? Please post personal experience ONLY.

You know that the fronts do not have to be upgraded, if you still have you stock ones

I want to upgrade the fronts; I want to start tracking the car next year and know from previous experience with a Porsche that you need all the brake you can get

Well in that case you might want to look into Project MU they have a new 4 piston front kit that is about 2500 and they also have a two piece rear rotor in the 99spec size

Before going with a brake upgrade, go with a dedicated track pad. There are a lot of FD owners who track the cars using the stock calipers but with true track pads and have no problems.

I've already bought the '99 rear calipers and 2 piece rotors on the group buy. I'm committed
Who's got the Project MU kit? I thought I'd found just about every kit out there- Brembo, StopTech, Wilwood, Rotora, Endless- and am hoping for first hand accounts of those kits.

Then get the '99 Fronts. If you don't go with the '99 fronts, you'll have to talk to the caliper manufacture to see if their fronts are balanced for the '99 rears.

I wish I'd bought the front rotors, as well. I thought I'd use an after market kit, but I didn't really think it through.
StopTech makes one that's balanced for the '99 rears; they say 'track only', but the dealer says you can use them on the street. They had to fit them with springs to keep the pad up against the rotor to prevent knockback with the larger rotors.
I am skeptical of getting a straight answer from the manufacturers, but I'm pretty sure one of these kits will work. Having read a lot of threads, a common problem with the aftermarket kits was the fronts were too large, increasing forward bias. The '99 rears would mitigate that, I would think.
Still hoping someone with experience will chime in.

Just grab the fronts here:

You know they'll work as Mazda put a lot of time/testing/engineering behind making the fronts/rears work together.

I'm pretty sure they're 1 piece rotors, and I kinda had my heart set on 2 piece. Nothing's ever simple when you're upgrading an RX7

Rallimike, the Stoptech fronts (custom for 99-rears) work very well with the 99-rears. Both Ptrhahn and myself are running these (as well as others). Order the Stoptech's from Dave at Zeckhausen Racing.

The 99-fronts would also be a very good upgrade, if less so than the Stoptechs. The main advantage of the Stoptechs is that there are much more pad selections than with the 99-fronts.

I use the stock 1 piece rotors with my full 99 spec brakes. I think the ones I have were purchased from Maza Motorsports.

OK. StopTech has some fans who've had good experience. No one out there with Wilwood, Brembo, Endless, or Rotora who wants to chime in?
