Hello everyone,
I ordered a set of ccw's for my fd but i did not go for 18*10's all round with 285/30's.
Instead i chose 275/35/18 for the rear on a 18*10 and 255/35/18 for the front on a 9 1/2" rim.

John at ccw reckons it's going to "push like a pig" with this set-up, but i needed the extra sidewall and the slightly skinnier fornt wheel/tire combo because i will be driving it to the track and back and not trailing it, so i didn't want it tramlining like mad whilst street driving.

I would have liked the bf gforce kdw-2's but with the set-up i chose i had to go with bridges s-03's.

So what do you guys think of this set-up? have i compromised too much on the track set-up for better street drivability? do you think this set-up will induce too much oversteer?

Also what tyre pressures as a guide do you recommend for the track, suspension is stock other than tein flex coilovers.

Any input is appreciated, also anything else you think i need to do.

I'm surprised you are mounting a 255 wide tire on 9.5" wide wheel.

if youre front wheels are really 9.5" wide then you could easily run a 275 wide if your car does end up pushing like a pig. sell the old 255's on ebay.

Well, it isn't going to oversteer. It might understeer (push) too much. What are you spring rates F&R? What anti-sway bars are you running (and what year is your car since the 93 rear bar is stiffer than later years)? You can stiffen the rear (sway bar or spring rates, or even shock setting) or soften the front to get more grip in front (at the expense of some grip in the rear) to reduce the understeer.

Even if you got the same tires front and rear, you need to drive it and see how it feels and then make some adjustments to achieve the balance you want. So drive it and see how it feels first, and then make changes if you think they are needed.

Thanks Max, before i posted i was hoping you would chime in.
As of yet all the suspension is stock RZ apart from the coilovers which are approx. 550lbs springs front and approx. 450 rears.

the trim of your car (push/loose) will NOT depend on your tire-wheel selection which is fine..

Max correctly addresses the matter.... spring rate, sway bars, shocks and geometry and tire pressure.

start out at 1.2 degrees neg camber fr and rear. less than an 1/8th toe in fr and rear. 30 pounds air pressure front and 27 rear measured COLD. at the track bleed your tires down after each session to that level.

drive the car and then do some tuning w air pressure and camber. if you want to go fast at the track buy yourself a pyrometer.

I run a similar setup, 18x10" rear with 275/35/18, and 18x9" front, 255/35/18. I too went for extra sidewall because these are my street wheels too. I think this setup is overlooked... it's fabulous. Perfect on the street or winding road....It does push a bit on slow, grinding corners on the track... but on anything quicker, it's very well ballanced.

Well, John Purner might have been a bit exaggerated. With only 1/2-inch rimwidth, and 20 mm section width differences between fr/rr, I'd suppose this would be fine, albeit with a touch more understeer. Probably an excellent setup for a fast road circuit, but not great for slow tight courses.
