stretched tires...

so im going with the stretched tire look on these wheels. but i dont know how what size tire to get...

and do i get a taller wall tire if i go with less width, ie; 225/50 is normal. but if i go with a 205, should i use a 60 wall??? i know the wall is a percenatge of the width, this is another reason why i think my wall height might want to be taller if i go with a skinnier tire...

is there a rule of thumb?, for example...if i use an 8 inch rim 205 is about right to fit correctly for the stretched look. and 9 inch rim would be 225?

can anyone help me here???

why are you going for the stretched look? for wheel fitment, or just for looks? overall it's pretty much up to you, it depends on how stretched you want the tires.

examples of common stretched tire sizes are generally speaking of course, a 215/40/17 or 215/45/17 fits well (stretched) on a 17x8 or a 17x9 wheel. You can put a 215/40/17 on a 17x9.5 but that's a pretty big stretch. 235/40/17 fits well on a 17x9 or 17x10.

i'm guessing from your 225/50 statement you're running about a 7 inch wide wheel? i would try a 205/45.. but really, with a wheel that narrow stretching tires isn't really practical. cause it shouldn't be necessary to fit the wheels, and it is severly reducing the contact patch of the tire.

oh, one more thing, different tires stretch differently. i.e. falkens stretch really well, and looked much more stretched then they are, the sidewall actually kinda caves in. whereas some cheaper tires dont really look that stretched in the same situations.. sorry, about all the posts.. i need to get past 10.

the rims are actually 8 inchs wide. and i have a set of 205/60 on the stock wheels. i was just going to swap tires to see how they fit since both are 15's. i was just wondering how the tire would look having the taller side wall...

thanks for the tips.
