Should I lower my car (FD)?

My shocks and springs are shot, and need to be replaced. Its REALLY bad driving when the road get really bumpy, it bottoms out a few times on huge pot holes or if I go a little too fast over speed bumps. if I lower the car 1 inch with stiffer springs will this problem be solved or will it be better if I stiffen the ride, but maintain factory height? the freaking car scrapes up the bottom sometimes when I pull into a steep driveway. Whats the best set up for street use?

i said.. u can't lower it anymore.. for many reasons.. first.. u dont know how to drive so..if u going to lower it... u will fu*K up the bottom of ur car ....and ...soon or later.. u will have to change everything. i think u should stay with 2 finger gap...so u can avoid damaging the bottom of ur vehicle.

this thread really belongs in the suspension section of the forum...

but anyways...alot of good things are said about tein flex coilovers. even with the drop in ride height, it makes up for the shock with high spring rate. so theres a good chance you wont bottom out.

there also one of the cheapest sets of coilovers you can buy nowadays.

Best idea for you is to keep the stock springs and use Koni Adjustables. You can set the perches on the Koni's to get you a little lowering but keep the stock springs for a more comfortable ride on the streets.

the shocks/springs combo I found from Tokico Illumina were $550 new. Are the koni's cheaper then that? and is it hard to install the factory springs on the aftermarket shocks?

Koni's are not cheaper, they will be more expensive. Tokicos do not have an adjustable perch like the Koni's. Springs are not hard to install if the follow the FSM. It will take time, but it's not hard.

The FD I recently purchased has Eibach lowering springs installed ( 0 miles, was going to drift the car). The car is not going to be drifted in anyway, shape, or form... Should I put the stock springs back in it? Also has Koni yellows shocks.

edit- the guy i bought it from said it lowered the car 2 inches, but according to this thread they only lower the car 1 inch. it isnt HORRIbley low so i find this believable. https://www.rx7club.com/suspension-wheels-tires-brakes-20/so-whats-really-up-eibachs-744690/

What springs depend on what you want to do with the car. Using Koni's allows you limited height adjustment. So in that respect, you can use the stock springs and still lower the car to some extent. However, I would keep the Eibach if I were you and then add the Koni's. You can use the upper perch for the front and the middle perch for the rear. It will help give the car a more even stance.

Man Id love to buy the Koni adjustables, but unfortunatley im not "ballin" so I cant afford it.... From what I hear , those are the best shocks/springs out in the aftermarket. basically im looking for the cheapest/ good quality shocks/struts I can find. I know for a fact that intrax springs are VERY cheap but ride like crap, cause my brother had those on his MR2 when he bought his car, he got rid of them fast.

There is like a 50$ difference between tokico and Koni that is like a tank of gas.
