shakey front steering

Hey Folks, The steering colum gets shakey at high speeds. The wheels and tires are new and have been balanced. I found a control link loose on the drivers side. I tightened it and it still shakes. I noticed that the shaking is mostly in the steering colum and not from the wheels. Can this be from bad Tie rods? If so, How can you tell that they are bad?

betcha a million bucks its from 1 or both of your front wheels not correctecly centered on the hub causing the front wheels to spin off balance which explains the shake. Get hub centering rings for all 4 of your wheels if you dont have them. -alex

Who did you buy the wheels from, and what brand are they? They should have given you the appropriate hub centering rigs for your car...
