What is the best tire for less than\equal to $120?

I've got a set of 99 rims, I know the back get 255 40 17's can the front take 245 40's?

I'd say Falken FK-451's at only $111 a pop for the 255s. www.vulcantire.com

235/45-17 is actually the correct size for the front 17x8. 245/40-17 would be smaller in circumference.

235/45 is what they used on those wheels but oddly enough it is taller than the 225/50 that the FD comes stock with on 16's. Secondly, it's a little odd that they would run a taller tire in the front than the rear, i.e. 255/40/17. Kinda like JZA80 supra setup.

I would personally go with what speedking recommends but then bump the rear tire to a 265/40. If not running staggered tires then go 235/45 all around. just imo.

For tire I would suggest the Falken ST115, I think it's around that price range. It will last longer than the 451 which will wear pretty quick. I believe the ST is our best selling tire for all intensive purposes. Good shoulder, tread life, quiet and smooth ride.

quick addition

I've heard good word on those new Fusions. I know they have a really gay name, but they seem to be a fairly good performing tire. Ofcourse, you could probably score some ST-215's within your price range. So far these are my favorite tires (not counting the Toyo's!), super traction but terrible treadwear. Then there's the new g-Force sport...

Yeah but the 245 40 is closer in size to the 255 40 than the 235 45 as in how far they'll travel and I want to try to keep close to the same width.

The Toyo T1-S is an exceptional tire, and is in your price range:
