Series 8 (FD) ABS brakes?

Has anybody tried to retrofit one of these on a LHD FD? Most of the Series 8 and Spirit R replicas here are cosmetic – I was wondering if anybody had gone deeper into '99+ upgrades.

Yes. there is a thread about it somewhere. Try searching the 3rd gen section - or check the 3rd gen FAQ first.

Thanks. It seems to be complicated and expensive. I found these threads:

I'm not going to say it is a waste of time but 4 channel ABS will not save you from spinning out because of extravagant steering inputs while under heavy braking. ABS can not stop the weight shift forward and unloaded / less load rear tyres while the car is unsettled. I am not sure if it has been testing how much quicker you can stop in a straight line, I know I have read online from Japanese driver reviews that the 4-channel ABS equipped cars feel much more stable during heavy braking for track use.

Another thing it is my understanding that 4 channel ABS was a feature installed on Japanese cars built from roughly September 2000-on. 6-Type FD3S only.

99 spec implies 5-Type and 6-Type FD3S.

I own a Japense market 6-Type FD3S with all the upgrades.

Thanks for the info.

My ABS is currently disabled and I was wondering if this might be worth a look while I'm getting it fixed. I haven't done much trail braking on the track yet.
