Remove Power Steering? is it OK?

hi,

I'm wondering, is there a way to setup your 2nd gen to run without the powersteering pump but not end up steering hard as a rock?

I know there's lots of cars out there with "Rack and Pinion" steering and the steering is pretty light and easy.

Reason I ask is because I saw the "Featured Car" "Soul Assasin" and noticed the photos it didn't have a power steering pump and I thought that seemed like a cool setup because it saves weight and power and makes the engine easier to work on!

Please Advise!
Thanks!
Dave

change the PS rack into a manual steering rack. I got my manual rack for less then $75 shipped. I haven't driven with it installed but I could guess it would be way easier to steer

I've run a TII without a PS pump with the PS rack. I thought it was OK in town, fine for a track but just didn't work for auto-xing at all. A manual rack would be easier to steer but the HP and weight you save might cost you more time due to the slower steering.

All-in-all I wouldn't do it again to a car I was going to auto-x.
