Pettit Racing Trak Pro Coilover Kit

Does anyone have experience with this kit? I am debating between Pettit's stage 2 and the tried and true GC + Koni setup.

The reason for not already going with the GC setup is from reading about how their top mount does not let the shock shaft articulate correctly. Essentially, the shaft binds and puts extra stress on the rubber mount and top washer. Pettit on the other hand has supposedly solved this issue but there are no clear pictures of the upper mount.

What kind of shocks do Pettit use? Are they rebuildable? At what cost?

The articulation bit is nice to have.

Pettit coilovers

I am looking into the Pettit kit also. They are fully adjustable and rebuildible. Does anybody out there have a set? Need some input on quality and performance!

Pettit Trak Pro

I work for Pettit Racing, and all stages of Trak Pro Coilover Damper Kits are CNC machined from lightweight billet aluminum, are fully rebuildable, have fully adjustable bump stop and damper position with special hyper rubber mount bushings. Stage II & III Kits have 24 position dampening adjustments.

What is the turn around time for rebuilds? Or is it full damper replacement? Any idea the cost of the rebuild or damper replacement?

What kind of valving does this coilover have? Digressive? Linear? Progressive?

Do you have shock dynos for these coilovers?

Are the Stage I and II valved the same as the stage III?

Thanks,

Andrew

I think it would benefit Pettit and the community if the information was readily available for everyone to read... I know Id be interested in knowing more specific details about these coilovers.... like what kind of shock valving they have, piston size, etc...

How much of that is available for other coilovers? I rarely see technical details of non-race coilovers readily available. Why make it Pettit's fault?

I think the spirit of the original thread is if anyone had real world feedback with this coilover setup on the street/track... Pettit has plenty of info on their site regarding their coilovers, and as Mahjik said, as much if not more then the competitors.

Well I just got these today for my new FD. I have to say, I had Tein Flex's for my old FD and these are, first of all much lighter being made of billet aluminum and not steel. The shock bodies are much larger than the KONI and GC setup you are considering and these may cost a tad more than the GC setup, but I had GC's and Tociko's on my old FD before the Teins and they made lots of noise on the track and the articulation was not correct so the GC's springs wore the lower portion of the shock body where the adjustment ring was! I have not, unfortunately had the opportunity to drive the car with these on it as of yet, as the engine is on it's way to Cam for a fresh rebuild. I would have to say that Cam know's what he is doing with these cars, he has been tuning them for a long time and is a racer himself. Yes he is selling a product, but in my opinion, Cam makes a damn good product!

BTW: Here's a quick shot of the new FD. BONE STOCK!

If you ask usually you can get it from most companies.

I have always had great advice from Cam. The products are top quality; he actually has used them, so he knows, as opposed to a lot of vendors out there that sell products for everything from BMW's to Lexuses (Lexes?). He stands behind what he sells. He's helped me with what (to him) were probably pretty stupid questions. No, I'm not employed by him. For the record, I'm currently running Tanabe GF210's with Tokiko's, but eventually I'll go for the Trak Pros. I'm not sure why...it handles well enough now, and the ride is honestly better than stock. Shocks on #3 in front and #2 in back. But man, oh man! are those Trak Pro's pretty! And almost infinite adjustment-all at a very competitive price-hell's bells, Ohlins are $3k!!!

Which is the same as I mentioned above for these queries (i.e. ask Cam). The statement was the info should "just be available" in which they aren't "just available" from other companies either.

Definitely interested in any further reviews on these. Seems like one of the top choices for anyone who wants an off-the-shelf 10/8 solution at a moderate price.

How much clearance do you have between the rear shock body and the sway bar end link? Curious if the RB adjustable rear bar will fit with these coilovers.

There is about 1/3 to 1/2 inch of clearance, not much from the sway bar mount to the body. The shocks are very big in diameter.

Here are the top mounts! The shock abuts the top mount on a polyurethane rubber spring mount and then the upper mount is aluminum.
