One more FD fitment...

I know this has been beat to death...but here goes.

Looking at SSR Comps 9.5 x 17 with 42mm offset. I want a slight staggered setup and was thinking to run 255/40s up front and 275/40s in the back. I know the back is a bit to tall, but will this work with minimal issues? I want a wider stance, should I adjust the offsets?

I do have 2.5" coilovers, but I don't think that will even come into play with this setup.

Thanks

I run 275/40's, and there are no issues, even w/ stock springs. I'd like to run 255's up front w/ them in the future, i think tha'd be about perfect.

275/40's used to be the recommended upgrage size until everyone got obsessed with tire diameter. If you're really that concerned, you could just run a shorter rear end gear...

Very good. Thanks. I am not concerned with the diameter except in regards to rubbing.

Should work out fine. Just can't do 275/40-17s up front...

I've got 275/40-17's up front on 17x9 +45 and yes, they are just a bit too wide, they rub the inner tire well and the fender before I raised the suspension 1" over where I had them before with 255/35-18's on a 18x9.

Wanted to run the same compound all around so I threw Nitto 555R Extreme II tires on all around 17x10 in the back and 17x9 in the front +45 offset all around.

I think I'm gonna have to take the 275/40-17 off the front and replace them with something like a 255. Had no problems with 255/35-18 on the front with my SSR's on a 18x9 +42.

Volk TE37 in black. The 10 x 17s are amazingly light! I'd guess 15 to 16 lbs??!!

This why I "push" the 9.5 x 17, 42-mm offset SSR Comps with 255/40-17s all around. Tire choice would be Kumho Victoracer V700s if you're on a budget, or if you have Kyle Bacon's budget ( ) Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Comps or Pirelli P-Zero Corsas... BTW, "push" (aka "understeer") is minimized by running same size wheels AND tires all around. "Push" is increased by running larger, wider tires in back LOL

See Kyle's Silver Streak @ Putnam Park Road Course by visiting this link He was running 255/35-18 on 9 x 18, 42-mm offset SSR Integral A2s and Toyo T1-Ses. I'm running 255/40-17 Pirelli P6000s on 9 x 17, 42-mm offset SSR Integral A2s.

don't laugh at the 1" jackness of the front end. I ordered some 255/40-17 SO3's today for the front so I can lower it back down to "normal"

K

Ps Manny, do you approve of SO3's for the front of my car for street play?

Kyle, actually the raised front end doesn't look that bad. Might affect handling though. I approve of the S03s. Oh, my money's on Kyle's car of course. Supras are too fat and heavy for me LOL

Have the 17" 275's helped your traction issues significantly? As i remember, you had 255's on 18x9's before, that you could basically liquidate in 3rd gear.

Sorry you didn't move here afterall, i'd have liked to this car!

ptrhahn - I'm out in Reston/Herndon area 2wks/month or so, I'll probably get my 7 out there in September for a while, I'll let you know so we can run around...

I had just finished doing some AFC tuning on the Supra in the picture earlier that day, he put down 566rwhp @ 22psi, it's a T04r single setup.

With me @ 20psi and him @ 22psi we played around a little on the road on the way home, but Friday @ 4pm there arent many "clear spots" on the freeway. Jake (Supra owner) is a friend of mine from about 2hr outside Columbus, he will be back down here soon and we will make some vid's for you guys!

Off topic...Kyle how long did your HC Power 600 battery last? Mine is starting to die. It's only 7 months old plus how ever long it was in Jason's FD... Can I recharge that battery, or do I need to buy a new one. I'm considering an Odyssey dry cell as a replacement. The dimensions are similar, and the Odyssey has a 10 year service life. I plan to buy it from Racer Parts Wholesale right here in downtown Indy http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/ Price is ~$150

Email me @ m.lozano@comcast.net (I have my PM function turned off).

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program
