I'm going to run those tires up front on my 17x8 + 35....looking for some 245/40, but may end up settling for 235/40. The rear tires are going to be Federal Cheap as hell and decent grip...the site doesn't say about the section width..with 17x9 +35 wheels in back I don't mind hammering my exhaust shields, but will it rub on my coilover?

 

first of all, you'll need around +30 or a little less to fit 235's in front... good luck with 245's with stock fenders. the rears should fit fine.

also,
I'm guessing this is for drifting? if so, you may want to re-think your front tires. first of all, something that big is going to rub at full lock... probably even with stock steering angle. if you get anything to modify the steering angle, you're not going to have a chance at turning those big tires all the way without them rubbing on the inside.

also, if you run RT-615's in front, and then cheap crap in back, the car's going to be pretty un-predictable as the road surface warms up (unless you're in a really hot climate... didn't look to see where you are). the 615's don't grip very well when they're cold, so the first lap or so out you get a lot more understeer than normal, then as it warms up they continue to grip more and more, changing the handling characteristics of the car.
and if its raining... even more un-predictable. I ran this setup all last year (but with 215's in front... and then I ran 235-cheap crap in back), and this year I'm planning on getting some federals or something in front to better match the compounds of the rear, so they warm up more-similarly... lol. I noticed this a lot when watching other people that ran 615's on the front as well... esp. on colder days near the end of the year. people would understeer a LOT at the beginning of the day, and then sart to spin a lot as it warmed up more.
so yeah, unless you're planning on running a tire with similar characteristics to the 615's in back, I would recommend not getting them for the front.

 

Right now I have 16x7.5 +30 with 245/45 in front and 16x8 +30 with 255/50. (I didn't do it and know that tire is a bit big for the rim) (not 100% sure thats the correct offset)It's not for drifting, but the Federal tires have pretty good grip and can withstand abuse. It's going to be for autoX and some 20min sessions at infineon or thunder hill

 

so why would you run azenis in front and federals in back?

ignore the steering angle part, but I would still not suggest running the rt-615's in front and federals in back due to the difference in grip as they heat up....esp. for auto-x.

225/45/17 and 255/40/17, but that's too wide for an 8" wheel, 245/40/17 is ok though. Those offsets are fine.

 

255's not to wide. i had them on my 17x8's for a while. until i got wider wheels.

just because you had them on before doesn't mean its good.
every tire in that size I've ever seen has a minimum rim width of 8.5 inches. and when you stuff that big of a tire onto a narrow wheel, its going to be balloned so much that the contact patch probably isn't going to be any bigger than a 245 or less anyway. so yes, you 'can' do it, but there's no point, other than it looking wierd, and giving performance worse than a smaller tire on the same wheel.

what tire size? those should fit. but you could probably do the 10/11's too.

It depends on the aspect ratio. Sure you can put on a 255/50/17 or something like that no problem, but for the correct size of 255/40/17 it's too narrow, beyond the manufacturer's reccomended widths.

 

i think 245 wide is what they came with factory from ford...

 

Yea, 245/45/17, which is too tall, you want a 245/40/17 or a 255/40/17 to keep the diamater close to stock

 

OK, I've read most of this thread but still need to ask this

HP Evos only come with a +38 offset. I want to get a 18x8 and 18x9 staggered setup and have been told 275's will fit in the rear. With what I've learned here it sounds like I'll have to run 225's up front which makes for a pretty big difference. What is the widest I can run up front to minimize the difference with stock suspension?

 

so would 17x8 +35 F with 225/40/17 and 17x9 +35 R with 245/40/17 be a good fit as far as offset, overall diameter and fender clearance?

anyone see an issue with removing the dust caps on the front axles so I can put the center caps on my wheels? I mean obviously it's there for a reason but... will there be enough dust getting through the wheel to make it necessary?

will 17x9+17 on a 225 work on the front. I have stock suspension now, and will be getting back my teins later, if that helps any.

Traded the Azenis for some Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212. Does it still seem wrong to be running the federal 595 in the rear? What would you suggest then?

Errrr.... front HUBS that is LOL. Last car I had to mess with those caps on was FWD and I didn't even think about it lol.
