raising arizona, do you know how much backspacing the 9.5 wide 18mm offset rpf1 wheel have?
i have tein flexes -1.3 front camber, with 20mm wider fender in the front and i can roll the rear. i would like to run 17x9.5 with 18mm offset and 255/40-17 all around.
reted any suggestions?

the rear will look something like this car, and i have the same front fenders.

Hmmm...backspacing...
9.5" / 2 = 4.75"
18mm = ~ 0.75"
So we're talking approximately 5.5" of backspacing.
Given lip configurations, it could add another 0.25" of so on the backspacing.

Just looking at the numbers, it looks too tight.
I don't have first-hand experience with the Tein Flex's, so I can't comment how much more clearance you gain with the coilovers.

If anything, it's going to be close...

I think i've decided on a 265 on a 17x9 for the rear and a 235 on a 17x8. Both are AR of 40%.

Offsets will hover around 25-30mm in the rear and between 30-35mm in the front (this is off of fc3spro chart) with JIC coilovers. The higher offset in the front is to compensate for the "tight fit" of the 235 width as mentioned by Ted. Coilovers should make this no problem.

Any thoughts?

What size wheels would you guys choose for a ~250-300hp car, 17x8s with 225 Front and 245 Rear. Or 17x9's with 245 or 255 Front and 255, 265 or 275 Rear? And I know that the front fenders will have to be rolled or replaced for the 17x9 front wheels.

Cuz I'm way cheaping out on the rims Kahren, Stock Mustang GT rims or the SVT 10th Anniversary. I know how dare I, but I really like the looks of both rims and you can't beat the price.

SVT RIMs 17x9

Stock GT's 17x8

i can already tell you that the SVT 17x9's won't work. the offset won't be right for the rear and it's just too dang wide for the front. i tried some mustang steeda or saleen 18x9's on my car and i swear the front tires stuck out about a inch and a half and the rears were out about a half inch but would have fit with more offset. i have a picture somewhere......

ok, maybe ii exagerated just a bit, here's a pic of the front tire.....

and the rear....

9s and 10's on a FC

Wow 61 pages . It took me 2 days to read this trying to figure out the right offsets for what I'm looking for, but it looks like some of you said that a 275/40/17 will fit and others said it wont. I have a 91 with teins SS coilovers and mariah 30mm wide fenders. I had the opportunity to try my friends 95 240SX 19x10 speed star SP1 wheels that that have a 350Z offset of +38 with falken 451's 275/30/19, and I was very surprised of what I discovered. Not only did they fit inside but I had about 1/4" before it hit the subframe and the outside was in line with the outside of the quarter mind you this was while the car was on the lift, so i think it might of been fine once the car was lower or if anything roll the quarter, but it fit. Right now I have RX-8 wheels on the rear which have the same specs as the FD's but in 18x8+50. I tried fitting these in the front and they were barely rubbing the coilovers with a 7/16 spacer which is about 11mm, so a +35mm for a 8' wheel will work, therefore I still have stock wheels in the front.

I want to get the 5Zigen FN01R-C Racing Wheel in 17x9F and the lowest offset I seen is a +15, this is the reason I bought the fenders. Mariah runs this fenders on a 9" wide rim but with a "0" offset. For the rear I want to push it to a 17x10 and is available in a +12, +25 or +35. For tires like the bfg g-force kdw-2 and g-force sport.

So this is what I'm shooting for:
5Zigen FN01R-C Racing Wheel
17x9F +15 on BFG KDW-2 245/45/17
17x10R +35 on BFG KDW-2 275/40/17

Will it work? Will find out

Domingo

As always, your opinions are valued here. Thanks as always guys.

Zach

Something to add to this. It turns out that I am going to be able to run a 235 width tire up front. But should I keep the 235/40/17 size or change to the 235/45/17 size? I'm still going to run the 265/40/17 in the rear and I'd like it to sit correctly and for the handling to be correct. So Raising Arizona and RETed, I need your help again. Thanks guys.

Those are the dimensions i decided to run. with a 235 up front. finding a cheap 265 width has been very difficult. i might stretch it to 275. with coilovers and some slight rolling...should be easy.

the rear comes stock with plenty of camber and the front could use about an extra 1/2 degree. lowering the car won't fix anything. when i had 245's on the front, the tire already hit the fender, lowering it will only make things worse. besides, the speed bumps around here already play havoc on my exhaust. any lower and those yellow strips will rip everything off.

Would these fit my car 5Zigen fn01r-c' 5x114 18x7.5 with a 43 offset . I have a 86 sport and I will be adding shortly the racing beat spring and sway bar combo which will lower my car one inch all around. Will these work and if so what tire would any of you guys recommend. Thanks

the 9.5 -9 will push it outside the fenders and I don't have wide qtrs to fit 10.5 -3, besides 19 is just too big I think.

No, I don't think it will fit up front.

i think it aught to work, maybe less offset would be better for spring clearance. something like a +38 or so.

215/40 is pretty close to stock height. (2.7mm shorter)
225/40 would also work, but is taller than stock.(by 6mm)

dude its uber flush not outside of the fenders.... ou dont have to do 19s... just do 17s same offset... and roll and pull the rear and do something cool with the rear wheels seriously a little time rolling you fenders will do wonders for wheel fitment

I need some advice from some of the guys that have being dealing with wider wheels offsets, I like these wheels but I want to make sure they'll fit. The 17x9F (I have mariah fenders) lowest offset is a 15mm so that's my only choice but the rears come in 12mm, 25mm and 35mm offsets. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

those pics i posted rare a FC with the mariah fenders.

you could easily do the 17x10 +12 all the way around with those fenders.

Front: 17 x 9 +35mm w/ 235-45-17

Rear: 19 x 9 +38 w/ 275-40-17

The only tires that WILL rub in front are V-700's because there blocky tires... Pilots, S02's, P-Zero-A's and Falken's will work with my experience. I noticed very little in grip difference with 235 vs 225, but with 275's on back the 235 probably would be best..

Discount tire here ordered all the sizes from 17 x 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5 & 10.... to see what would be the widest I could go... The 17 x 10 +32mm fit the rear, however it was Enkei TX's only 17 x 10 RPF1 and to wait for the other 17 x 10 from Enkei JP would take months, so I settled for the 9.5 because it will support a 275... This is what worked for me

R.A.
Im also looking at the enkei RPF1 in 17x9 and 17x10 for my FC. Im looking to do like RE Amemiya did on their white FC, and run a 255 tire all around. Will the front offset +35 fit with that tire? I will be having overfenders in the front. I run JIC flt-a2's. The rear offset is 18, im sure that will be no problem. Any problems?
