Well I test fitted a 17x8.5 30mm offset wheel with the stock suspension, I could just get my finger in between the wheel and the shock(wish i still had the picture). Without a stretched tire the tire would've rubbed on the spring/perch.

You'll be a 1/2" higher up the shock, and 5mm closer. I still say you will need a 1/4"-1/2" spacer. The best thing to do would be throw them on and check clearances.

Vert Wheel question

I got a killer deal on some BOSS MOTORSPORT 308. for $200. 17x8 Chrome 5 on 4.5 +40 mm 6 in backspacing. They came off a Toyota Avalon. Tires are too tall, 215/60/17. I am going with 215/45/17 and a 225/45/17. Is the backspacing going to require a spacer on my 89 S5 Vert? It is stock height. I really do not want to change the ride quality with such a low profile. Any ideas?

I purchased a set of coilovers, so the car will change in stance, but here is what I am rolling right now:

Front 8.5 inch +35 Wheels. 225 45 18 Tires.

Rear: 9.5 inch +35 Wheels. 255 45 18 Tires.

Fenders are rolled in the rear, and there is lots of clearance. I may not even have needed to roll them. Up front they tires are very tight! The rub on the inner fender well on some bumps, so I may cut our part of the inner fender well, or get 40 series tires, but the rubbing is not too bad.

FYI the sideskirt is just pushed on for the pic. The car is at the body shop getting a full kit right now!

Rims for my '88 SE

A guy I work with is practically giving me a set of rims if I want them for my RX, but I am not sure if they will fit. They are 18x7.5 with 215/35 tires. What kind of offset should I be looking for? I haven't measured the offset of these yet, but I know they came off a FWD car. Could that pose a problem for my RX?

The offset will mean everything. You can always buy adapters that space out up to 2 inches. You can find them on ebay. I would just bolt them on and see what they look like.

OK. So I found a set of Steeda lightweight aluminum wheels for rediculously cheap. They're staggered, 17x9 and 17x11. The backside of the wheel on the 11 width rim is 7.5 inches. I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, but I just wanted to make sure, could I make these wheels fit with 1 inch spacers all the way around? (Which I already have)

Im shopping for some new wheels but all this offset and tire size is confusing me. I have some mille miglia but came with the car when i bought it so idk the offset. Here are the specs of the ones im looking at.

Bolt pattern : 5 x 114.3

Size : 18 x 8.5(front) & 18 x 9.5(Rear)

Offset : 20mm(front) & 25mm(Rear)

Lip size : 2"(front) & 3"(Rear)

I know tire size matters someone told me i should get.

front 235/40
rear 265/35

I just want to get everybody's opinon. Let me know thanks.

Jed, I'm also running the XXR 006s, 17x8 & 17x9 +35 all around with 225/45/17 & 255/40/17. My tires don't rub during normal commute and spirited driving. However when I autocrossed with this set up for the first time, my front tires were rubbing against the fenders. I'm considering rolling the front fenders and getting some tein flex.

How would 17x9+28 in the front fit with stock fenders and coilovers? And 17x9+18 in the rear?

Hi Guys,

I am looking at putting a set of 17" Koya Drift Teks on my 88 FC.

It has stock guards that have been rolled.

It is lowered and has JIC FLT Coilovers.

The wheels sizes offered from Koya for the Drift Teks are...

17 x 8 +34
17 x 9 +35
17 x 9.5 +18

I was really wanting to run the 9's up front and 9.5's out back.

Thoughts? Will that fit?

Tyre suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

You would need a spacer if your wanted to run the 9" up front.

Thanks,

Is that so the rim/tyre clears the coil-over?

Appart from that, you think the 9" rim would fit comfortably up front?

What about 9.5" with the +18 in the rear, all OK?

I am looking for a nice fat stance.

I must say, I LOVE the look JoeCrappa has achieved with the 18 x 9 M3 rims, looks hot. That is the stance I would like to achieve.

Hey guys. Ive looked around the 161 page thread. But could you guys give me an idea of what size spacer I would need to run. I plan on getting some Gramlights 57d they come in the sizes

I want to run a 17x9 all the way around. the off sets are +12 +22 and +38. I know guys are running a +35 with a small spacer in the front, But what about a little bit larger spacer on a +38 or would a +22 be a better fit. I dont want to go wide body at the time but the fenders are all ready rolled. And as for the rear, what do think? oh and the tire size is going to be a 215/45.

Bill

Yes that would be to clear the suspension. And the +18 should fit fine, might need to roll/pull the fenders.

+22 would be a better fit, should be able to tuck them if you are going to run a 215/45.

Its the same width as the S5 mesh wheels. Just taller in diameter. Wheels should be and upgrade, so go wider.
