you say you have no rubbing issues?... but I was wondering if you have seen any wear marks on the 3rd coil up on the spring... I had a similar setup and witnessed rubbing which occurred under cornering(compression)

wheel is 17x9 +24
now if you picture the spring being further down the shock body, it looks liek that might actually rub. tein flex's happen to have the perch in a good place (for 17's), but other coilovers may be very different.

i fit a 2mm alan wrench between the perch and the rim protector (closest part). the area between the meat of the tire and the bottom of the spring is at least 6mm (didnt actually measure).
thanks Josh, looks like the smallest point is where the sidewall meets the rim, where there will be little to no flex in the tire at all... have you measured how much wider your fender is since you rolled/pulled it?

Okay guys, I'm looking for FLUSH aggressive fitment on stock fenders. I'm looking at a set of Work VS-XX's right now for a good price and I would like to get your opinion on fitment:

18x8 +26
18x9 +20

Do you think this will be an aggressive enough fitment? I'm talking stretched tires and camber, etc. I want "hella flush" fitment and I'm not sure if these will do it for me.

Thanks,
Jaime

Im currently looking at a set of volk wheels that are ridiculously cheap. Im know im going to need spacers. But I was wondering how they would fit / look.

the wheels are
17x8 +37
17x9 +37

I was thinking maybe a 15 mm spacer in the front and 5mm spacer for the rear. Tire sizes would probally be 225/40/17 and 245/40/17

How would that work out. Any other suggestions. Im trying to get some opinons before i Pull the trigger.

Well standard fitment for stock fenders would be:

17x8 +35 and 9 +35

The 8 +35 might be real close to the coilover so you might want to run a 2-3mm spacer.

STD. GRIP tire sizes: 225/45 and 255/40/17

Tnks. The rear rims won't be concave right? If not, let me know about the same thing but with the RPF-1's...... I may end with the Enkei's... Widest without any kind of spacer and with rolling/pulling rear fender in mind

Why is a stretch fitment even recommended in the first place for the general car owner?

Let's please leave the stretching out unless the owner specifically requests it.

I would actually set the offsets to +30 and give up a little transitional grip for the most lateral grip.

If your road course has more chicane's and S-turns than normal corners, than use Rishie's offsets.

The track has more normal curves than chicanes so waiting for Richie's set-up for the RPF-1's.

Risky Devil set-up stretch tires?

Normal size for 9" is 255.

205, 215 is a decent stretch.

Same goes for the back at 10", and his suggestion of 235

Obviously, 215's on 9's give less grip than the 255's, they also have less compliance over uneven road than 215's on 7"s, so less grip in that respect as well.

Stretched tires work well for drifting though, where the object is to slide as opposed to get the fastest time.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of stretching for normal street cars, espeically ones that get taken to the track, for a variety of reasons. While some members on the forum have run stretch fitments for years, there's a reason why manufacturers don't recommend them, even if no one's killed themselves by doing it yet. I'd rather take the safe way out, than worry about emphasizing my wheels with low offsets, heavy negative camber and stretched tires.

FYI, most US racetracks are not smooth. That's why you don't want to take out the compliance by stretching the sidewall. Japanese and some European racetracks are smoother (For example, Tsukuba and Magny-Cours are reputed to have surfaces that are smooth like glass) and those tracks would take to a stretched tire better than ours. The reason? Reduced compliance (i.e. stretched tires) promote response and feel, which is critical for drifting, and is a worthy addition AS LONG AS you don't have to give up grip for it. The best analogy to think of is stock bushings versus solid bushings.

Looks like I might be fitting some Advans onto the FC. I have KYB AGX's with RSR race springs. I'm looking to get a nice solid tire that won't knock my speedo to far off.

Rims are 17 x 8 +38 offset F + R

F+R tires: 215/45/17
Plus add 3mm spacers up front.

Think this will work? Should I go bigger in the rear?

Just go for 225/45/17's, they're more common and they fit nicely on 17x8's with a little more width and grip. That *should* fit.

you'll need the spacer, but yes, it should fit with 225's.

Hey guys,

I was thinking about buying some XXR 962s 17X9 +35 offset. I'm also gonna lower the car with some RSR springs which I think is about two inches. What size tires would you guys recommend for that? I'm pretty new at this whole suspension/wheels thing.

9's will need rolling and spacers in the front if you don't want to stretch your tires. 245 or 255 all around would do the trick.

If stretching is ok with you, then 215 or 225 will work without anything else.

Well I was going to try not to roll the fenders, do you think 17X7s would fit without rolling on that setup?
