944: I do have 17 x 9's up front on the race wheels. the street RPF1's are the 17 x 8.5 + 40mm front and the rears 17 x 9.5 . If you go to www.enkie.com they have an offset chart. I actually have an apportunity to sell the race wheels (long story) to someone here so I'll again go wide as I can come spring. www.ccwheel.com

Arizona do you think I could run a 17x8.5 +40 offset with a 235/40/17 in front?

I am aware that I might have to role the fenders front or rear some. I'm not concerned about that. What I'm wondering is if the wheels or tires will hit or rub the suspension. From what I understand with the front stock suspension setup I would probably run into a problem. But with the coilovers, the diameter of the front springs is smaller. Which would eliminate the problem. Please correct me if I'm wrong or tell me it will work.
That should fit.

I think the fronts are a little tight, but I trust raising arizona's numbers, since he has run those dampers.

The rears are not a problem.
We've fit a 10.5" rear +9 with a 295 wide tire, and it clears all the insides no problem.
In fact, there was at least another 1/4" of space, so ABSOLUTE maximum offset for a 10.5" in rear is about +15 - keep this in mind as a guide.
You have 1/2" less wheel width with the +18, so this should clear all the insides no problem.
If you're curious on the numbers, the backspacing for a 10.5" +15 is equal to a 10" +21, so your 10" +18 makes it.

Although wide tires induce more chances of hydroplaing, if you stick with a good quality tire, it should not be a problem...

GreenMonstah : A 235 with an 8.5" is probably not gonna work unless your offset is around +35mm - +32mm. I would think (depending on dampers) that would be the area of fitment. As I said, I have 8.5 +40mm and tried a 5mm spacer and it was alot better (inside) but thought it stuck out to far. and this is with zero camber and I do think (for the street) I am going to run a 5mm spacer and then get a 235 and run 1/2 -1deg neg, then it should be fine. I think camber only plays a part on the outside. Maybe I'm wrong there.

Here is my best advise and I'm sure Ted will agree. You can "really" only run a 225 -235 max up front anyway so why bother with an 8.5 or 9"...ya know? I mean you can run up to 245-ish on an 8" anyway. Just a thought.

In my experience, I didn't notice much of a difference 225 vs 235. Only on exiting after the apex did I notice but that can be suspension corrected.

Ted, you really got a 295 on there huh? man! Now thats information I can use I was lucky enough to try my friends 10.5 (285) off his Supra and that worked too.. I think the wheels were even 18's or 19's... yikes.

Ted, As a mater of fact my friends ( silver Supra ) was purchased from Hawaii from a guy... Nice mod'd out car.. Maybe you know the car. (off the topic, sorry)

Yep, agreed.
For stock fenders, going anything wider is asking for trouble - you gotta be spot on with the offset to get 245's to fit under the front fenders.
There's always the option of rolling the front fenders.

Unless you going "hipari" (stretched tires), 8" wide is fine for 225 or 235 wide tires.

With a LOT of aftermarket wide front fenders available, you can always go this route if you want wider up front.

Yep, I had to see it to believe it!
I actually helped out with the fitment, since I've seen a lot of 9" rear wheel fitments.
So when we worked out the numbers, the 18" x 10.5", +9 fit fine with the 295 wide tires.
I got to check out the fitment in person (it's one of hIGGI's customers in CZ), so that's why I can be sure on that fitment.
Of course, the car is running a wide-body kit.

That's odd.
I know of a lot of JZA80's coming INTO Hawaii, but not many going out to the mainland!

So the 295's wont fit on a stock bodied car? If so what camber would you have to run to make them work?

Ted, so its a wide body then? Steve Oblene had ( he sold his scca TII) a wide body with 335's I think.
Ya, my friend bought a 95 TT Supra/ Hawaii, Veilside kit, 19 x 10.5's, FMIC etc and some custom silver/grey color... Very nice car! It now has a T88 or something and has 800rwhp and only runs 10.8's I joke with him because my T60-1 will do the same at a little more than half that power and boost Those Supra's don't stick from all the torque. Could be his skills too heehee

Ted, lets see you car... Never seen it

No ways.
I think 275's can fit in back, but the offset has to be dead on.
Camber doesn't affect rear tire fitment.

And if you think you can mount 295's in the front...you're smoking crack.

Yeah, it's a custom wide-body and the pics are all over hIGGI's site.
I haven't gotten around to stealing them and posting them on my site yet.

with my stock TII rims and 245's, a 5mm spacer makes them look just right in the front. zero camber.

I think a 245 is to wide for 7" if thats what you mean. 225 is perfect. Now it depends on driving style. If you drag race then it'll be okay, but for cornering it'll roll to much for ya... Now this is just my .02.

Ted: I've been staring at Higgi's car trying to figure out all the nice details he's done... Impressive car. Like the no middle trim, and mod to the hood and Y2K bumper..

you guys are probably sick of tire wheel size question but here's another one...

would a 8" +15 w/225 tire rub the front fenders, if i use enough camber and roll the fenders?

Too little offset
Unless you run like -10 degrees negative camber (DON'T DO THIS!) and run rolled fenders that are pulled out over an inch, it won't fit.

As a rule, 8" wide wheel with a 225 wide tire, shoot for about +30 offset.
+35 is maximum offset (popular spec), but you might or might not need a small spacer for this combo.
Compared to your +15, it's sticking out over 1/2" further out.

I'm not a big fan of hipari, and I like a 255 minimum width on a 9".
225 on a 9" +20 is going to be tight up front, but like the owner said they fit.
For me, when I run 9" fitment up front, I try to shoot for a +15; we've already done this and it cleared everything pretty easily up front.
Of course, running a 255 wide tire up front requires overfenders.

I have that size w/ +38mm offset and its fine and I do run a 5mm spacer, but its not needed. 275 rear, 235 and 225 upfront. I also have 17 x 10's in the back for racing only, and this is all with no rolling of the fenders or anything at all...

So again:

street: 17 x 8.5 +40 front & 17 x 9.5 +38 rear and then w/ 5mm spacer +33mm.

race: 17 x 8.5+38mm front & 17 x 10 + 35mm rear. No rolling, no noth'n.
I saw this for sale and checked out this post. I noticed that you had Tein's and Eibachs w/stock shocks. Any ideas if these will fit w/RB springs and Illumina's. Maybe 5mm spacers? I'm thinking 225's up front and 245-255 in back.

Those offsets won't work on the FC. There to wide and you'll probably have issues. They will work with spacers though (5mm) In fact the fronts would be +37mm which would fit good with those suspensions...

You better jump on them man! If you get them and don't like them I'll trade ya my RPF1's (same sizes) for them red ones....
