ok, the rear suspension in my car is very noisy when, for exaple, going over traintracks. I just put koni shocks on the car all the way around, and i inspected and torqued down everything in the rear. Could it be worn out bushings? I have a complete new set for the rear, but havent had the time to install them. When i get on it the car handles very well and is not noisy at all. It's just when i go over bumps, rr tracks, ect. The car has 85,000. Is this normal for its age, i hope not.

My guess is that you have bad toe links and pillow *****. Try to steer the wheel to check the toe links. Lift the wheel and yank the suspension around to see what is loose.

Note that the Unobtanium bushings replace the rubber ones, but not the toe links or pillow *****. Why? The stock bushings are pillow ***** (spherical bearings) in the first place, so besides making them last longer there isn't any way to improve on them. That isn't quite true for the toe links, which are spherical bearings suspended in rubber (not as crazy as it sounds -- you get free motion in many directions and some give from the rubber in one direction). The M2 or Battle Version (dist. by K2RD) toe links have heim joints (rod ends) which get rid of the rubber, so those are an upgrade.

Ok, her5e is my situation. When i bought the car a few months back the seller threw in koni struts and 10 bushings for the rear. I have 4 large ones and 1 smaller one. Which ones are these sopposed to replace? I am goiing to replace the bushings tommarro. thanks

what kind of noises are you talking about? Squeaks? Knocking sounds?? If it sounds like knockings, then you should change out those rear suspension bushings...3 on each side 50 bucks each

i thought the only way you could get bushings was to purchase the $650 set...

where can you buy them individually? i'm getting knocking and squeaking...but i think the squeaking is the spring seats are worn, so the springs are hitting the raw metal....where to get these?

Well I have knocking and Im about to lower the rear using aftermarket springs.. you think it will make it worse?

There are 20 bushings the the rear suspension (10 per side). Here's a list (and available replacements):

1. Lower link at body (Mazda-only)
2. Trailing link at lower arm (pillow ball, Mazda-only)
3. Lower link at upright (pillow ball, Mazda-only)
4. Upper link at upright (pillow ball, Mazda-only)
5. Upper link at shock (Unobtanium)
6. Fore upper link at body (Unobtanium)
7. Aft upper link at body (Unobtanium)
8. Toe link at body (aftermarket toe links have rod end)
9. Toe link at upright (aftermarket toe links have rod end)
10. Trailing link at body (aftermarket trailing link has rod end, Unobtanium)
