New Wheel Advice

Im planning on getting new wheels downsizing the rears from and going 9'' all around from 10'' in the rears.
Im thinking about the rpf1 or the rf01.

Are there any other brands out there in that are also in the 1100 price range that are comparable to enkei?
Honestly dont really want the rpf1 but there just doesnt seem to be any wheels that compare between fitment weight and value.

Ok... Maybe some more information and I can get a reply

I currently have a staggered setup 17x9 on 255 up front and 17x10 with 255 at rears.

I am wondering the pros and cons of going 9s all around or 10s all around. I will probably keep the squared tire.

Why bother? Honestly if 255/40-17 all around was my desired tire setup and I had 17x9 fronts and 17x10 rears, I'd just stick with that. There's even OEM precedent for this (sorta): 1984 Corvette came with 255s all around on 16x8.5 fronts, 16x9.5 rears.

If you are gonna run the same tire all around, run the same rim.

I would try it with the 17x10 in front and the 17x9 in the rear to see how you like it.

The stretch on the sidewall will be more noticeable up front with sharper turn in and response.

I run 17x9.5 with 255 up front on my RX-8 and 17x8.5 with 255 in the rear. Drives awesome this way and looks like I have fatter tires in the back.

Not sure what offset you'll need but here is the xt-206r in a 17X9 5mm offset.
But make sure to look around and check all styles. Different styles have different offsets and sizes.

I don't know what they weigh for 17X9, but my 18X11s weighed 19.9 lbs. Also from what I've
been told, these rims are made in Taiwan in the same factory as Volk/Rays. They are not forged,
but I've had no issues whatsoever. I've been rolling a couple years on them and absolutely
love them. They really set the car on another level.

I was thinks that would be best. Its such a pain to rotate tires with a staggered setup.

Rotation not a necessity. It can be convenient if you track a car, but still not necessary.

Both of my cars are on staggered wheels/tires, and I track them, and I don't find inability to rotate to be a problem.

I daily the car its not a track car. The rears wear almost 4x as fast as the fronts. I would it would be much easier to move the wheels around rather than unmounting and remounting tires.

4x?! Burnouts? If not, you have an alignment issue. What's your rear toe?

In any case, you can always just replace tires as they wear.

Or, if you have a legit alignment and are getting 4x the wear at the rears, perhaps that's an indication that you need bigger rear tires... Unfortunately not a lot of options wider than 255 for 17" street tires.

Toe is zero. Camber is about 2 degrees. I dont do burn outs, making MAYBE 300whp. on a cold day.

I had BFG SPORT COMP2s which are perfectly fine tire. I got about 1 year out of the rears.

I think 2 degree camber on the rears is the issue.

I run 1/2 degree camber on the street with 255/40/17 Falken 615's on 9" rims. No wear issues.

Hmmm, that is odd... I got more like 2:1 more wear on my rears on the street, 245 front 275 rear Michelin Pilot Super Sports, with ~465 rwhp. I run -3 front -2 rear camber, not a problem.

The rear tires tread depth outlasted their usefulness, they lost all grip with half the tread still remaining, after ~15k miles and one track day.
I replaced them with RE71Rs. FWIW I would never buy Pilot Super Sports again, the grip just disappeared after a year or so.

Seriously, though, you might think about running 275 rears on the 10s, although tough to find good 275/40-17 street tires... G-Force Sport Comp 2 comes in that size, though. But it's a higher-treadwear performance tire more than a serious performance tire.
