Thinking of Selling In a Couple of Years
We bought wife's '94 FD new in September 1994. She doesn't want to sell it, but has a new problem with both leg cramping and a sensitive toe on her clutch leg/foot. Bad news in heavy traffic.
Not advertising here, but any advice on asking price for an "almost stock" '94 "Popular Equipment Group" in Chaste White, 112K miles, original engine/paint, nice shape? Pretty much everything works, except power antenna is stuck in the "up" position, and the oil pressure indicator has always jumped around.
I just need to know something about current value without going to the "Blue Book."
Thanks for any comments!

15k I think. High mileage.

Prices are going up. Mileage is important but is only a gauge on its condition. Is it non-molested? Have compression? Wearable bits replaced? Etc
PM Fritz Flynn. He usuually has good pulse on fair market value

White cars sell well these days. 112k on the clock and still running. I wouldn't wait 2 years unless you want to run the risk of having to do the motor yourself. These usually end up needing a coolant seal if they never went down due to an apex seal.
112k is high for an original engine. And a rebuild and labor can seriously change the bottom line on the car for you between now and 2 years from now if you try to wait it out.
These cars won't go up enough in 2 years to make up for it.

Not many would pay 15k for a FD that is in need of a motor. FD's are not particularly rare in Ca. i would expect 10-12k as is, 16-18k if the motor is replaced...closer to 18 if you fix those little grimlins you mentioned.

Thanks to all for your comments.
I am aware that (at least on this forum) >100K generally is thought of as high mileage for this engine (unlike a Miata, for instance). However, it still passes the champagne test, has never been abused either by modifying for higher hp or raced, never wrecked, always garaged, still eats only about 1 quart of oil between changes (every 3K miles), and runs well both hot and cold. Since we only put about 2K miles on it per year, I see no problem hanging on to it until wife finally decides "it's time."

color: you have the most desirable color
paint: is it good and is it all original (no accidents of any kind)
rust: can't have any

Body: all weather stripping good, door handles etc.... good blah blah
Interior: very good or no holes in carpet, weird smells, parting missing/broken/not working etc...etc..
1994/95 are worth an easy 2500 more in my book all things being equal.
If all the above checks out it's a 12k car with a blown motor LOL. That said with those miles on the original engine, turbos, trans, etc.... it's a money pit but isn't any 20 plus year old sports car.
Also you are wise to keep it if you don't have a need or better use for the money because this car has a great chance of continuing to go up in value.

At this time the most important thing when buying these cars is:
color: you have the most desirable color
paint: is it good and is it all original (no accidents of any kind)
rust: can't have any
Body: all weather stripping good, door handles etc.... good blah blah
Interior: very good or no holes in carpet, weird smells, parting missing/broken/not working etc...etc..

paint: original, except for the gas cap filler lid, because the lid is a replacement, but the paint match is perfect.
rust: isn't any
Body: This is a Southern California car; don't see any peccadilloes anywhere. The windshield shows some age if you are looking toward the sun, i.e. the glass shows a slight "sandblast" effect, but not obvious unless you are looking for it.
Interior: carpet is not worn since always covered since new with carpet-type floor mats. Cover over driver's side door compartment has been removed for extra sunglasses storage. Leather seats show a little wear at bolsters from sliding in & out.
(Build date is 11/93. VIN is JM1FD3331R0301265.)
Misc: No error codes displayed if TEN->GND and ignition turned to ON. Unknown if boost pattern is 10-8-10; never monitored. All repair/maintenance docs kept since new. I replaced the shocks; standard OEM versions were ordered and are marked as such, but ride is rather stiff as if shocks are the harder "race" versions... weird. I've done most of the maintenance. A/C works perfectly and never touched. P/S fluid has never been added; still at full. Coolant recovery does its thing. Sunroof works like new. All instruments work except oil pressure gauge is erratic; sensor issue, I think. No "strange" noises at all.
Car is not for sale at this time.

color: Didn't know that Chaste White is the most desirable... I would have guessed Montego Blue.

LOL....lots of competition for that award
Actually. As I think through some of the threads I've seen in the past, I don't think you actually get the award. We should start another thread just to really see what has been the worst haha
