My new D-Black Volk GT-C

Just got my babies in today. I have 18x9 +42 upfront and 18x10 +44 in the rear. ordered them from Matt at Vivid Racing last month and had them at my door today for a GREAT price. so between the price and the short wait I would RECOMMEND them to the entire forum. Hope you like the pictures.

I'm going to do Toyo RA-1 or Khumo Ecsta 712's
285/35/18 in the rear and 255/35/18 in the front

Staggered setups generally promote understeer, but that's only relative to the amount of tirepatch/traction that his fronts can achieve.. and 255's seem plenty wide.

Nice ..........can't wait to see them on the car. post pics quick. vivid racing is a good source for volk wheels. real stand up shop. ordered wheels from them and they could not deliver in time and therefore they issued me a full credit without hassel.

The tires sizes you chose are spot on. I have 18x9 +43 and 18x10 +43 with 285/30 and 255/35... Depending on how far you lower the car you'll have to be careful about hitting bumps with the wheels turned all the way, I've got my front left fender lip once... and you'll want to roll in the fender lip in the rear. On hard cornering the rear outside tire rubs... I still need to roll mine

He indicated a 285/35/18 which is a tad tall. I'd go with what stoke did and that's the 285/30 series. Probably what you meant anyways. At the 35 series you're getting into 350Z tire diameters.

Sorry i did mean the 285/30/18 in the rear last thing i want to do is roll my fenders using the tires instead of a machine.

Well, those are two completely different tire choices. The RA-1s are sticky and not suited for daily driver/wet weather and have a very low treadwear (around 60?) and won't last long. The ecsta 712s quite frankly are garbage tires that belong on a toyota camry before they should be mounted on an FD. Go check out www.thetirerack.com and start doing some research, it's a great site with lots of information

Damn dude, 285 on an RX7?? thats pretty wide for the space you got in there...just damn thats all i gotta say. Ive got 295's on my Z06 vette, bet youll got some awesome traction on the rear end, especially when you have less weight to cart around.

Don't get potenza's. They're on my stock car now and I cannot wait to get something else mounted. They don't hold traction very well at all.

285s are pretty common on FDs if you have a 10-10.5" wheel and proper offsets, but most people are running 275 and 265 rears.

There are some lucky people running 285/30 on all 4 corners! For the most part they have CCW's with +50 offsets, but still, it's possible!

+1
Kumho MX are fantastic also. Much stickier than 712s and price is similar. Just saw them at tire rack for a little over $100 for 255/40/17s.
