Question Making my Ride smoother

I'm new to this site and I'm very new to my car. I had just recently purchased a 94 black rx7. Its an automatic so you all can laugh at me. Anyways, I was wondering what suspension components I need to make my ride smoother. I just bought Konig shocks and it doesn't make much difference. I know its a sports car and it comes with a stiff ride but i would like it not so stiff. What else is needed ? .. thanks..

Seriously, you bought the wrong car if you think the ride is too harsh. It's stiff even with the stock suspension.

Find some old touring springs and shocks. After 90k miles, my car rides like a caddy

May I suggest selling your FD for a Camry or something more suitable?

This is a hard-core sports car. The stock suspension is decently compliant, at least on the non-R models (which you have).

BTW, there is no such thing as Konig shocks, so I assume you meant Koni. Koni shocks ride a tad harder than the stock shocks, even at the softest setting, so I don't understand why you bought them if you were looking for a "softer" ride.

Get an inflatable donut from a medical supply store, the one used for hemorrhoid patients vs. Change shocks and springs.

what is the tire air pressure?

set it at 29 front and 27 rear cold.... in other words before you have driven the car...

ditch the koni shocks. they are the wrong item for your car given your interest in a softer ride. replace them with a set of stock non R1 shocks. there are tons around that you can buy used for almost nothing but shipping by putting an ad in the classified section of this forum. a great place to sell the konis too

the rx7 has a very nice ride w the proper air pressure and i am sure once you dump the shocks and adjust air pressure you will be very happy.

keep us updated.

If you arent happy with that, get a Porsche or BMW SUV so you can have both ride and sportyness.

get some 13" rims with some big *** tires. that would be the best thing.

yeah like everyone said, this is the wrong car to look for a "smooth ride"

Sorry to come across with an attitude, but I just don't understand why someone would want to soften the ride of a basically stock suspensioned FD. The FD was designed as a hard-core sports car. I know I made the quip about the Camry but in all seriousness, perhaps the FD isn't the car for you -- there's nothing wrong with that, it's NOT a car for everybody.

Good luck with your car.
