What size and offset are the M3 wheels? For example: 17"x9" +40 offset. I am pretty sure the bolt pattern is 5x120mm.

5x120 is the normal BMW bolt pattern. And you're right -- it won't fit on an RX-7. But the hubs could be redrilled if the offsets are high enough. If the offsets are really high, bolt-pattern-changing spacers could be used. However, I think it is not worth it in either case, and I doubt the offset will be high enough anyway.

M5 wheels would look great on almost any car but the boltpattern is such that they only fit Bimmers

From what I've learned, never a good idea to redrill the hubs. Puts a lot of stress on the hub. Eventually, under certain circumstances the wheel will bend and break, and possibly cause a good wreck.
