Look Funny?
I recently picked up my FD. My fiance bought me a set of 18" wheels. I have 255/35 rear and 235/35 front. I don't have enough money for my suspension yet, which leads me to my question.
Question.. With this setup, will there be a huge gap between the tires and fender? Approx. how many inches. Does it look terrible? Anyone have a picture?

Please list the sizes/offsets so we can be more informed. Running 235/35s on the front are WAY too small a sidewall. 255/35 all around would be perfect.
With the 255/35, it will be the exact diameter as stock.

It will probably look like what i call a roller skate. Where it looks like the car doesnt sit right and there is a nice size gap between the fenders and the oversized tires, hence the roller skate.
I would still put them on though, I mean you have them why wait for suspension.
btw I would have gone wider in the back, ehh but thats just me.

look at this link
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...width+on+tires
I would personally go with rims that are 18 x 8.5 and 18 x 9.5 in the rear and use 235 tire in front with 275 in rear.
And before anyone says anything, I DONT WANT TO USE 17's.

You should be running 235/40 or 245/35 tires up front and 265/35 tires at the rear. 235/35 is TOO short, as I pointed out above.
I'm a bit scared that the only thing you appear to be concerned with is looks, rather than fitment/handling.

The rubbing mainly depends on your offset.
I run a 245/40 up front on a 17x9 wheel with 44 offset,
and 275/40 on 17x10 with 41 offset.
I would suggest atleast a 265 out back but a 255 will be fine, some people run a 285 with no problems.

275 SHOULD be fine. I dont want you to blame me if something goes wrong .
There is no back seat so you dont have to worry about your back dropping when you have passengers.
From everyone I talked to and everything I read I learned that 275 is a great fit.
But once again pls dont blame me if I am some how wrong. Like posted in that thread there may be diff. in sizes due to brands.
Me, I would go with Nitto or Yokohama's

its no problem.
i am assuming that you are not the one who is going to mount the tires to the rims, right?
in that case you should find a tire shop that says that it is okay for the 275's in case they do rub you can blame them and have them switch. good luck and give us a post to your outcome.

Is it a crime to appreciate a vehicle for what it is rather than concentrating on what it can do? What I ment is I don't plan on doing a whole bunch of racing.. My current setup won't have such terrible performance during the occasional stop light - to - stop light sprint.

GM made a TON of compromises for the H2 for streetability, fully intending the vehicle to be used almost exclusively on the street.
The FD Rx7 was built for speed and handling prowess.

BTW, you should at least auto-x your car once or go to a track day. You will have a lot of fun and you will enjoy your car a lot more. You may just discover that straightline speed is not the be-all end all to having fun...
