Kumho V700/V70A

Does anyone have any experience with this tire on the street (occasional use- not daily driving)?

How do they compare to the A032's in terms of wear and stiffness?

Thanks in advance for comments.

I've used the V700s on the public roads. They're outstanding--quiet, smooth, sticky. They're a bit stiff due to sidewall construction, so the ride will be bumpier than with normal road tires. Obviously because the V700s are R-compound tires, they will not give you the mileage of a normal ultra high performance road tire...ymmv, but count on half of the usable life of normal UHP tires, if you decide on V700s for road use...

A032s are much too noisy to use on the road. They're not that great in the wet either...I'd say only slightly better than full tread depth V700s...

I dunno...if you can deal with the tractor tire sound of the A032Rs...then go for them...

Costwise the Kumho V700s are more economical...and you get slightly better performance in the dry, in addition to the Kumhos being quiet on the interstates!

Thanks for reply SleepR1,

I should have mentioned that I have had A032's, I was just looking for a comparison with the V700's

I run the v700's for AutoX, what sort of mileage do you actually see if you run them on the street?

Just being curious...

YMMV (your mileage may vary), but I've had 5000 miles out of a set of Kumho V700s used for road racing, autocrossing, daily driving...

I run the V700s on the street on my 97 Supra TT. I like them alot, I get around 5000-7000 miles on a set. Nothing else will hold in 1st, and 2nd gear. Figure it this way, the only tire that even comes close is a TA KD, They cost almost twice as much as a V700, they only last only about 30% longer, and have far less grip. As far as R compound tires for the street, V700s first, Toyo RA1s second, with no other choices IMHO. Carl

hmm... yeah, that's not in the budget...

I think I'll be lucky to get 15k out of my AVS ES100's, but they don't cost >$100 a corner either...

at that rate I'd spend more in tires in about a year than it cost me to buy the car
