Kumho ECSTA?
I saw these tires were pretty cheap & was wondering if they were THAT bad? I mean they look like they have decent traead & have a better warrant than the Yokohama Paradas. Right now I have some "Joe Smith" brand or something, lol. Has to be better anyways. I was looking at these or the Parada or a few others. I am looking for both sizes, 205/40/17 & 245/40/17 and don't want to spend more than $130 for each tire in either size. Any other suggestions?

Good tire for the price. We sell tons of them and have yet to hear a negative comment. The price is just too good. Did you find wheels? Make sure you match up the tire sizes with the related widths of the wheels they are going on. Sounds like some serious staggering you got going on.
I would suggest a 225/45 or 215/45 in the front and a 235/45 in the rear. The 245/40 is good also but works best on a 8.5" wheel.

I hate them. Granted, I autox my Rex and therefore need a true high performance tire. I can't fault them at $100 a pop, but they don't have near the grip of the Dunlop SP5000s that I have used in the past. For street driving only I wouldn't complain. They do appear to wear well, god knows I have been trying to kill them so I can get something else.

i got 18" ecstas on my FD cause they costed less than half what my s02's cost and have a higher wear rating. So far, I'm very happy with the performance for the price, they arent s02's, but they are great for the price.
verdict: great for a low-cost street tire, not-so-great for auto-x. but then again, if you're serious about racing, then you would mount slicks for racing

Well what size do you recommend for 8" wide? What about 7.5"? I want as wide as possible in back. Thanks. Oh ya, haven't found any rims yet, not the sizes & price I want.

Ludi,
If you are having difficulty finding rims, let me know what your budget is and I can get you a good fitment. I would run the Enkei's RPO1 once again. In a 17,8 w/+38 offset and only weighing about 18 lbs., that can't be beat. They are the best price deal you can get too. Beggars can't be choosers and that's got all the characteristics of a good lightweight cast wheel.
Then run a 215/45 or 225/40 or 45 depending on how much the car is lowered. In the back, you can run a 245/45 for max width on the 8" rim. You don't want to "balloon" too much with a reguar street radial.
I would run a 245/45 on an 8" at most and in the front I highly suggest running bigger than a 205. You want to lessen the understeer as much as possible so put as much rubber as possible in the front. If you get your suspension set up I guess it wouldn't matter, but I like the saying "Wider is better."
Good luck, Rishie

For the money they are great. The grip is good, better than the Eagle GS-Ds I had before, and they are very good in the rain. At autocross they suck, but I run R compound tires
(Yokohama 008RSII) so I don't need too spend tons of tires for huge grip on the street.

if you have to have that treadwear rating for that price........best deal i think. if you can live with less treadwear.....yoko A520.
i've had both of those.
i've also had nitto 450 and yoko paradas.....the nittos fall apart and the paradas don't have enough grip.

nitto 450 totally blow! I personally hate them with a passion!
Whatever you do, don't get the nitto 450's. you'll probably end up in a wall or around a tele pole in the rain with these. In my car, i did a small power slide and wasn't even getting on the gas. when my brother got his fd, we swapped rims, (hehe i like the rp01, and they were rubbing on his anyway) and he totally skidded 2 turns. one from a stoplight (in this case, he was pushing a bit too much gas, but what can u expect within the first week of owning the car hehe ) the second was uphill and the rear just broke loose.
my friend's mx6 also has nitto 450's and he hates them just as much. i swear to god, those are the worst tires in the world. At drags, i spun the crap out of them 2.7+ 60 foot times. (well i cant drag race worth crap anyway but still they suck!)
anyway, back to the kuhmos, i've got a pair of almost new 235/45/17r ecsta supras i skanked from my brothers new car, and some deteriorating/chunking 275/40/17r Dunlop sp 8000's in the rear. i've got to get new tires soon, and i was thinking of the kuhmos to match the front. How are these in the rain? that's probably what i'm mostly concerned about here in hawaii. one minute it's bright and sunny, the next downpour! And the fact that i have a 1.5 mile uphill battle to contend with on my way home doesn't help with the rain factor. (i should really take some pictures of my hill, it's so beautiful. wide, banked, and fun as hell when dry...)
what do u guys think? kuhmo or bridgstone potenza so3 poles
