since you never mentioned wheel diameter, i assumed you were talking about 18s. my basis of judgement was: 225/40-18, 245/35-18, and 285/30-18.

as the profile gets smaller, the leeway for rim width gets smaller.

Yes I was thinking 18's...was ready to order
18x8.5 kinesis
18x10 kinesis

now I am thinking
18x9 (w/235's) track maybe 245/255
18x10(w/265's) track 265/275

thanks,
Johnny

So Johnny, no Fikse ay. Well I'll look into those prices for you if you want. I'm sure you already got an estimate, so if I can beat it I will. Good luck.

I just got off the phone with my Fikse rep and we were having a similar discussion. It really depends on what tire you are using. All brands practically have different section widths when actually meausred when mounted. I would suggest asking Kinesis or have me talk to them and find out what they reccommend for the car.

I know you'll get good tires like Bridgestones, Yoke's, Michelin. I would be more concerned about rubbing in the front of the FD rather than ideal fitment on a particular wheel size. Let's find out what is ideal for your car, especially if you're gonna spend like 4G's or some ****. Man you're crazy but so coooool. We can match now, I got a set of 18,9 and 18,13's on the widebody GT-X. I'll be sending mine is as well to get redone, so let me know, I'll ship them together.

With the 9 and a 235 you won't rub provided the offset is correct. 285 in back would look so sweet. I'd run a 245 all the time if it fits.

Later, Rishie

Rishie,

Racer friends talked me out of Fiske..If I was still getting 17's I might stay with them, but when I decided to jump to 18's..well Kinesis k58's are just too sweet (For what ever reason normal k5's dont do it for me) .

Yes I have 2 quotes..one from Kinesis and their normal 15% off price..but I always welcome others..
18x9
18x10 Please............

I might be interested in tires from you at the moment. I might be interested in some cheap stuff..235x40x18/265x35x18

Kuhmo 712's
Bridgestone Re730's

or move up
S02's
Toyo Ts-1

IMHO, the tires are the last thing you should skimp on. Besides, if you're putting expensive wheels on the car, why downgrade the performance with sh*tty Kumho Ecstas (I've had the previous generation Ecsta 711s...JUNK...worst tires I've ever had on my FD!!!!)?? The RE730s are ok...but not worthy of your Kinesis wheels. Go ahead...spring for the Bridgestone S-03 Pole Positions. You won't be sorry. Ask Max Cooper about his S-03s...he loves his set in 245/40-17 and 265/40-17 mounted on 8.5 and 9.5 x 17 Volk SE37Ks (in cool, understated black finish). I'd have a set myself in 235/45-17 and 255/40-17 mounted on my 8.5 and 9.5 x 17 SSR Comps, but I'm using the Comps for track-only, so I'll have 245/45-17 and 275/40-17 Hoosier R3S03s to wipe out all comers at Putnam Park
