Kuhmo 712

Anyone running these Kuhmo Ecsta tires I know they are cheap, but I'm on a budget for tires right now. (I know there are much better tires out there, I dont want to hear about that please, unless they are comparable price wise!)

I can get them pretty cheap and they look good for the price. 225/50 16's.

They suck. Get some Dunlop SP 8000s or the Kumho Ecsta MX. They'll cost you $120-130 more for the set at the Tire Rack than the greasy 712s. You won't regret it.

The 712 is terrible. There are other choices for about the same money; pick any of them

As far as bang for buck, the 712's are kinda middle of the road. Not the worst, but definitely not the best. Ok grip when new ... at half tread, the grip falls off a cliff. When it comes to tires, you always get what you pay for.

DamonB whats around the same price thats better?
The 712's are only 66 bucks each for 225/50/16.
I dont know of anything around that price comprable.

I realize these aren't high end tires thats why I said I'm on a budget, how are these tires for the money.

Is anyone actually running these or have you ran them? Or are you just going on heresay?

Yup, They suck! I bought a set of 18" rims off a guy on the forum and negotiated the price downward because they had a set of shitty 712's on them...

I'm gonna try the FALKEN 451's next.

I'll agree. They were awsome for the first few months. Then they took a crap on me. Go with the Falkens...same price, better preformance.

Very good in the rain. Dry traction is better than I thought, but nowhere near as good as a high end tire.

Get the MXs

I didn't realize they had gotten that cheap! They used to be closer to $90; for $66 I can't offer any alternatives. The 712 is not dangerous by any means, just realize you are giving up a lot in dry performance. In the rain they were good.

The tires will be on the car for a long time so spend an extra $20/tire and get a tire that will keep you satisfied and do the job much better.

I have them on my car and am not that crazy about them. Don't grip well and rain performance isn't all that. At least not compared to the Toyo T1S on my last car.

Good luck.

I actually wont have them for long because I'm going to go 17's in about six months when I get cash from my dog having pups.

Thats why I asked about a good cheap tire.
I found them on tirerack for 66 each and they are like 80 everywhere else.

BTW I'm going to get 17 5zigen Copse Bronze and then my 16's will be history.

i have the 712's.. i am on an extreme budget and i have an n/a FC anyways... not like i'm gonna need shitloads of grip. they handle well though.

some people just don't realize, when you need some tires and don't have money for better ones, you're gonna have to get one of the cheapest... that's why i say... MONEY DOES BUY HAPPINESS!

Thats what I saying everyone on this forum always says everything is **** unless it's the best stuff out there.

I said in the first post, I'm broke how are these tires for the money. Not, are they as good as high end tires, I know damn well they are not that's why they are cheaper.

You came here and asked our opinion. You got it. If you don't like it, that's not our problem.

I recommended some "budget" tires that cost only a little more than the 712s and are better tires. If I was recommending the "best", the prices would have been more than double of the 712.
