So far, the track record was set by LG motorsports C6 Vette at 1:11:7 (closed wheel) and I think open wheel was set by Formula Atlantic at 1:09. I do have a problem with my fuel pump. It would drop fuel pressure completely while I'm on the straight so I'm losing alot of time from the pump. I think I could get close to 1:19:00 on CW or 1:17:00 on CCW. If that's the case, I'm within 6 secs from the track record and 6 secs slower than a 600hp world challenge GT2 vette.

BTW, here's a video of the vette I mentioned.

I had a time attack event yesterday.
It went great till this: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=IDciBIqd2w0
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=zMaKjoMqd_s

The front still a little understeer but less then before.
The rear feels great on acceleration but not braking.
This happend when I did not brake or accelerate.
rolling thru the turn.

If I had finnished it was a 6th place

Later that day we had a 30 min. session and it was great.

anyone near the Chicago/Milwaukee/Minneapolis area who is able to get out of jail this coming (Oct 22) wednesday should consider the open track day at Blackhawk Farms.

BHF is hosting an open track day this coming Oct 22 wed. weather is predicted to be 56 hi w a 10% chance of rain.

i expect a modest turnout and the day is unstructured so you can just come out and have fun.

BHF, for those who haven't been there, is a 1.95 mile road racing course that places a premium on handling and braking. modest top speeds (around 120) take some of the risk out of the equation compared to Road America, for example, where you may be running 160.

here's a link: http://www.blackhawkfarms.com/

i expect to shake down a newly acquired PerformanceBox.com assuming that UPS comes thru. it uses GPS to generate lap times, Gs in all directions, splits, friction circle etc.

i will be running Hawk DTC 60 pad w my RacingBrake setup along w my dual purpose shaved Sumitomo HTRZ IIIs.

bring you car....maybe see you there?

Howard or anybody that can help with my suspension setup,

I have over steer on my car. My setup is BuddyClub coilover (25" to the top of stock fender arch) and toe arm and traling arm. My problem is that when I accelerate and want to change lane on the street, the car seems to switch lane too fast ofr my comfort. The front end feels like lifting up.
I have stock sway bar.

I am planning to change to Koni Yellow and GC coilover. What spring should I use, and where to order the GC custom spring rate for it?

Thanks
Daniels

Omg what a disaster. Your toe settings are all over the place!

Set toe to 1/16" front left and right, 0 rear left and right. Front caster +6.0 degs

And give me your adjustable coilovers if you don't want them

That is cause Nagisa always has crazy prices on their stuff. I am sure it could be done for significantly less if someone wanted to.

Attached is another picture of the front A-Arms and a better description.

:-) neil

These are equipped with the sturdy pillow ball joints and allow for camber adjustment to be dialed in. The arm can be adjusted 10mm in either direction. The oval pipe used is the same type used with formula race cars, which are of the highest quality.

^ could these help correct caster problems we have with lowered FD's? the max caster I was able to get was 5 i believe. Even that was hard to get as adjust camber or toe threw it off.

How low are you?
I think you have another problem altogether or the nut behind the wrench might be doing something wrong.

1.02.8 unfortunately was not my fast lap at BHF but my temperature wednesday.

on tuesday i was making laps in my DD learning the GPS Racelogic PerformanceBox and just started shaking. i had noticed from friday on i was feeling "low battery" but just discounted it. at that moment on tuesday i knew there was no chance of being ontrack the following day. i called BHF to cancel and headed for bed. where i have been until last night when my wife dragged me into a clinic.

i am greatly disappointed as there were a number of questions that could have been answered.

foremost to me is whether the 13b can be road raced at the 475 rwhp level. the metrics from my last dyno run w the alcohol system working perfectly indicate yes.

i could go on but for now i will just go back to bed.

maybe there's a chance at Road America next Fri depending whether the event is sold out.

Hey Howard,
The racelogic GPS box sounds very good and expensive. I wish I have the money to buy something like that for my car. I actually find a program for my Palm Treo and uses GPS to track laptime and G-force.

http://www.schlangmann.mynetcologne....mer/index.html

I just bought a palm GPS receiver on ebay for $50 just for this purpose.
I haven't purchased the software yet but I will soon to see how well it works. Its definately nothing like what you have but it should give me all the info I need for the money.

Also for guys who has Iphone, this program will eventually work on Iphone and should be much more accurate than using just GPS receiver. Iphone has a built-in Gyro so it will give you much more accurate Lat-G's and laptime via GPS.

Just wanted to share what I find for those who are in a budget like me.

Howard, the march of dimes event is sold out, but satcar is running saturday. If the weather is good, I plan on going. Word is if you bring somebody, they will knock 25% off of both drivers entrance fees. Interested?

this is my first day out of bed. not fun. assuming i am back running on all rotors and the weather is in the high 40s i would love to do the satcar saturday. we could switch my PerformanceBox between our cars. i also have Dick Lambert who would bring his Nissan GT-R and Merle Cook w an FD.

i will do some checking on it tomorrow. thanks for the tip GW.

I did a satcar event at BHF. Very well run event and was small enough, I got a ton of track time. Wish I could make it up to RA too but going to be out of town.

Have fun.

Dick got a GTR? Does he still have the yellow 20b FD and the white one? They were clean cars.

So what's the deal with rear diffusers ?

Are they only necessary if you have a 100% track car, and not a dual function track/street car, as they are too fragile for street-driving, esp. when your fender is just a little more than 25-inches from level ground.

TIA,
:-) neil

Tire pressure bleeders. Instead of doing the first lap at 25 psi when the tires like 29 when hot you start at 29 and as they gain pressure the valve releases it.

LoL holy crap I didnt know that existed. Its amazing

Howard can you please explain something to me.

I see cars in Japan most of all running 255/40/17 tires usually something like Yok A050 or A048, with very high spring rates eg. 16kg and 18kg and sometimes equivalent spring rates. Can you tell me why this is?

As from the recommendations non symmetric sizes are used from the back and the rear is softer than the front. (Really just curious not a poke whatsoever)

I too have been wondering this, for example RE-Amemiya's FD coilovers, the DG-5, run 12/10kg and I think they recommend not running a lot of bar and using it more as a tuning tool rather than a substitute for rate to counter body roll. What is the reasoning behind your recommendation to run less rate and more bar?

less rate and more bar = easier to drive and control the car
