Help with Eibach spring install (FD)…
Hey guys, quick question. When trying to install my eibach springs I noticed that the coils did not start and end at the same place (as you can see in the attached picture).
This means when I assemble the shock and springs they do not line up the same (because they have to go on the perches a certain way) so when I get the top of the shock into the 3 holes the bottom of the shock does not line up and I can't slip it in to get the bolt in. Hope I am being clear.
Has anyone else had this issue? What I ended up doing was turning the top rubber perch to make things line up but that seems like a make shift fix to the problem.
PS, Yes I am sure the eibach springs are the correct ones for my application.
Thanks for any help.
Here is the pic (Stock left, Eibach on right).

The left spring is the stock spring I pulled off my car, the right spring is the aftermarket Eibach spring. Both stock front springs end the same and both the front Eibach springs end the same but the Stock springs do not end the same as the Eibach ones.

I found this post...
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ng+seats+twist
which describes what I am having so I guess everyone with Eibach springs wold have had to do this? Any input from those who installed some Eibach springs themselves would be appreciated.

I know that when they installed them (supposedly a reputable garage) they had to twist the **** out of the strut to get it to align with the bolt hole on the bottom; I guess this is common since when the spring seats properly it twists the strut off of it's normal alignment
As far as the torque-ing of the shocks to get them to line up, there's no way around it. When the spring seats properly in the spring stop, the hole for the bottom to attach to the control arm is about 50-60 degrees off and HAS to be twisted just to get it attached and aligned.

Well the springs have a top and bottom and in the pic they are pointing the same. Also if I flip one it still wouldnt be the same. If I flip the ringht one the bottom would be the same but the top would be poitning the opposite way of the left one.

I'm pretty sure the springs are uni-directional (somebody else chime in here), i.e.: they'll be the same rate no matter which end is up. I understand the coils would turn in a different direction, but I'm not sure that isn't normally the case, since they mount on oppsite sides of the car.

Not at all.
Keep looking at it and visualize where the ends would be after turned over. The 50-60 degree difference is always there, no matter how you orient them.
The the OP: seems like a bummer to me, but that thread seems to hold the answer you're looking for.

Thanks for the input guys. All I did was turn the top rubber seat so the spring sits right on the top and bottom but the top rubber seat does not sit like it did stock on the metal perch that it touches. I don't think this will cause any issues at all and see it as the only solution. I am just surprised that no one else ever brought this up (other than the old thread I posted). Or if they did I couldnt find it by searching.

the eibach springs have logos printed on them and they should be readable(right side up) when oriented properly. "bigger" springs go in the rear, smaller up front.
when i did mine i replaced all 4 shock mounts so there was no indention from the old stock springs to worry about lining up.
