Getting Aragosta FD standard version rebuild?

Hey guys,

I have a set of Aragosta FD coilovers that i want rebuilt before i install them on my car.

Does anybody have any idea where i can get this done? I have sent off a few emails to Aragosta Japan and in Europe but nothing back so far.

Is there any different spring available as well?

Thanks,

=Ben

Anybody? I would like to hold on to these, but if i cannot find somewhere to get them serviced then they are kind of useless.

have you tried your local suspension shops? (pretty dumb question)
can they not machine/adapt/make replacement parts to fit? have you asked?

where on earth are you that dosent have suspension shops that can machine new rubber/nolathaye o-rings/washers or whatever!!??

im down the bottom of the world in new zealand and know several places locally who can rebuild coilovers.
( i just had my HKS coilovers rebuilt -- they had lost all their oil/gas and the little gas valve things were totally destroyed - i.e bent/broken )

its amazing, they ask you what kind of car they are on -- you tell them an FD rx7 and their enthuasim to do the job suddenly increases greatly -- try it =p

basically what the guys told me is that many coilovers are similar and where rebuild parts are not directly avaiable, other manufactures parts can be modified to fit, and in the case where they cant be modified they can be made from scratch.

is there anyone near you who can "regas" the shocks?? if there is it would be a good idea to start with them as they can proberbly replace/machine the interior components aswell..

good luck

I too live on an island. Vancouver island, there is not much in terms of a competent suspension shop around here. I suppose i could try vancouver...

So far i have emailed Belgium and the Japanese branches. Nothing back so far...

Do a Google search for "Shock rebuilders". Then just calling and emailing.

I'm willing to bet that several of the big name shock guys could rebuild them quite easily. They all use somewhat interchangeable parts like o-rings and such. Ohlins does not manufacture their own o-rings. They use a third party manufacturer as does everyone else. So anything that needs rebuilding (soft rubber stuff) is probably readily available. Now if your shafts are worn, that may be a "slight" problem but again, I'd imagine a hardened chrome shaft in the right diameter/length won't be hard to come by.

If they are still in good condition then you would be paying about 160-170 a corner. If they have bad shafts, or other parts that need replacing it would go upward from there.

I can get them done here in Japan. Once I had them it would take 7-10 days for Aragosta to rebuild them and then I would send them back. My guess is a total of 2-3 weeks will pass by.

If you strip them down to make them light for shipping it will save you a ton.

PM me if you have more questions or want to discuss this further.
