As we are finishing up the front calipers (ETA next week) to complete our BBK development, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your interest and patience.

If you have been following this thread I am sure you can better understand that the process of building a sound and balanced brake system does involve a lot of attention to the detail in design engineering.

The brake rotors are built with the most advanced rotor design technology with RB’s proprietary metallurgical process.

The front 4-piston caliper is a newly designed model with 36 and 38mm dia differential pistons for optimal performance.

As to brake pads, we also tool up the needed pads with different compounds to assure RX7 owners have good choice for their driving purpose. RB pads also allow you to have another choice than Hawk whom we have partnered with for years. Their pads are well tested with our rotors, and if you prefer a compound that is not made for RX7 we can have them made for us. In fact Hawk was duly informed of this RX7 BBK project. However our endorsing Hawk should not be interpreted as we are excluding others, there are customers using other pads with satisfactory result, but if customers report problems with other pads we have to make them aware to the public.

We are also finalizing the brake lines for this BBK to make sure the length, fitment and required hardware. We recommend replacing all four corners and have included the brake lines (in the front kit) as a standard.

Our BBK are designed and built to solve the “insufficient and/or unbalanced” brake problem of RX7 from performance racing standpoint, which we believe it will deliver the performance and meet with your satisfaction.

Like we offered to RX8 community, we are offering an introductory 20% discount for pre-orders just to show our appreciation to customers who place their confidence on us before our normal shipment. This offer is good until 5-15-07 and will not be extended. (Learn more for your risk free pre-order)

Group buys can be organized through our dealers. However, we prefer our dealers to offer “added” value / service to our brake package so that customers like to deal with them.

Thank you for your support

Warren - RB

Some RX7 owners expressed their concerns and confusions over what they have learned from us direct vs. what they might have heard from others.

To avoid this type of confusion we normally don’t like dealers to get involved until the products are fully tested and released.

This RX7 brake kits development has no exception while you know Howard has been given us great help in fitment and performance test and explain to you what you like and should know about these kits.

Thank you Howard,

Warren - RB

Sounds good. I'm not going to say a thing then. Just send your questions to Warren or Howard. I was hoping i could provide assistance in reducing work load for you guys.

If guys want pricing I can do that. I won't provide any technical data. The only error I made was in not realizing there are two different 4 Piston Calipers now from RB.

I'm already sending you an order Warren so please do take care of that.

Thanks, Rishie

I'm really crossing my fingers for a bolt-in bridge on the production calipers! Great to hear that they will have piston taper as well. Great for pad longevity.

Did I understand this correctly?

Front kit = $1,929.95
Rear kit = $926.26
Total = $2856.21
Less 20% discount = $571.24
Final Cost = $2,284.97

Thanks

Warren,

Are these pads for the front BBK a proprietary design from RB or is it a industry standard pad design? I would like to go with Performance Friction 97 and 01 pads. The stock front pad is linked delow.

Warren: I'm also a fan of Performance Friction pads. I didn't see any mention of them on the RB forum. Do you know whether the compounds are compatible with your rotors? If yes, what size should we order? Thanks.

re slots only etc....

as with many of the tech questions the answer is on the RB site:

http://www.racingbrake.com/main/two_piece_compare.asp

exec summary...

1. slotted

2. drilled and slotted... holes and slots

3. open slot. Patented by RB. optimal design. holes are within slots

all above FD available.

yes the pads are indeed a standard configuration. i will check and advise the specific model.

Warren does not continuously monitor this thread as he, thankfully, is busy trying to get things accomplished at RB so i try to assist... i would recommend that anyone who isn't completely familiar w the RB site spend some time with it. you will pick up some additional brake related insight.

as to PF pads, i will check for you.

This has been fixed.

If you are still having problems, just submit your order without the discount leave the discount code in the comments and we will apply it manually.

Thanks

2. Your account is not charged until the order is shipped.
3. You may return the order for a full refund if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase.

Benefits of pre-order:

1. Receive expedited shipment, which can be before May 31 on first come and first serve basis.
2. Receive guaranteed delivery before June 30 or sooner while regular orders are shipped on stock availability.
3. Receive the same 20% discount for the purchase of brake pads (Hawk or RB) and brake fluid (Motul 600 or ATE Super Blue). Purchase can be made with the brake kits or later (just mention the pre-order# on comment field and discount will be applied).

Brake pad line up will soon be announced.
By the way Warren,

If someone out there needs the kit for their track use or a race. I am willing to give up my spot for them.. I'm in no real hurry as my project car is on the back burner.. As long as I could get it before End of July, I'll be happy!... I'm throwing out this just in case someone else is in a hurry! I just bought it early because of the discount

We can't confirm the compatibility of our rotor and PFC pads while we have customers reported issue on Ferado and Carbotech pads.
Although this is a very common racing pad but I checked PFC's site and didn't see they offer this pad, however you may check with PFC and refer to Hawk's P/N HB110X.654 to see if they make it.

I don't see the rear OEM 2-pc listed http://www.racingbrake.com/RX7_s/3213.htm

Will the discount work for the OEM 2-pc or only the BBK?

Could you also confirm that the hats are compatible with the BBK kit for future upgrade?
