I placed an order for a full set, amazing price.

First question: Will there be an available heat shield sock for the steering tie rod rubber dust seals? RB specified that the rotors are pretty close to the tie rods and radiant heat may be an issue.

Second question: Front BBK brake pads - are we using the same pads that are on our stock brake setup?

Rich,

You probably could have used these during DGRR promo run, hehe.

You'll need to PM me for best pricing. It's a savings over the RB website as a club member.

Based on the looks of the offset on the RB Rear 2 piece rotor I think it just might work. I know the Endless 6pot Mini brake system clears 16" wheels and when comparing the specs this rotor is a little smaller in diameter and I believe should have more spoke clearance than the mounted Endless caliper.

FYI, for those who pm me please make sure you indicate what Kind of Rotor you want:

There are 3 choices:

1. Slotted Only
2. Open Slot
3. Drilled and Slotted

From what I've discussed thus far most guys are looking into the Open Slot.

Front BBK:
http://www.racingbrake.com/RX7_s/3286.htm

Rear BBK:
http://www.racingbrake.com/MAZDA_s/3287.htm

ALSO IF YOU ARE PURCHASING THE FRONT BBK THEN YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE LINES. This means if you do fronts now and rears later, you won't need to buy the rear brake lines.

BBK DOES NOT INCLUDE PADS. PLEASE INDICATE WHAT KIND OF PAD YOU WOULD LIKE

HAWK
RACING BRAKE
ENDLESS
PROJECT MU

You are welcome to source your own pad. Fortunately RB uses an OEM Nissan 300ZX pad for their 4Piston Calipers. It's simple enough to cross reference your pad #'s with RB's website.

I don't carry PFriction, Cobalt, etc....

We're already working on a few orders right now. I'll be speaking with a RB Rep tomorrow to discuss lead times. Hopefully it can be done faster than what the website says but Patience is a Virtue.

Don't forget your location/zipcode.

PM or email sales@autornd.com

Thanks, Rishie

Anyone know if the BBK fill fit with 17" Enkei RPF1's? The clearance with the stock calipers against the spokes is already pretty tight.

I've emailed to see if they have a brake clearance diagram for the kit. If not i'm sure that Howard can produce one if he's got the time.

RacingBrake's FD designed rotors are not just another bigger-sized replacement.

they are made from a proprietary alloyed material unlike any other rotors you can currently purchase.

due to the specific nature of the material i would not run any pad other than RacingBrake's purpose designed offerings or a pad that RacingBrake recommends.

find out about their brakepads on their site. i will be testing both their street (low dust) pads and racepads. BTW, my car is white.

as with many of the tech questions the answer is on the RB site:

http://www.racingbrake.com/main/two_piece_compare.asp

exec summary...

1. slotted

2. drilled and slotted... holes and slots

3. open slot. Patented by RB. optimal design. holes are within slots

all 3 options are FD avail. i do not know if all 3 options will be immediately available but will check and advise.

as to OEM wheel fit on the front i will advise as soon as i receive the front calipers which should be very soon.

*How much of an adavantage is the BBK over the 2-peice OEM replacements?

*Why are the calipers only 4-pot? ...why not 6 or 8?

The answers I seek are neither there nor here, which is why I posted the question several times but no reply as yet.

I do like the upgrade option retaining the hats and replacing the rings, so upon replacement I can just move up to the BBK then.

Did you choose the slotted or was that what was given to you?

You can only move to the BBK assuming the offset of the HAT is the same on both the BBK and the OEM 2 piece rotors. Hopefully I answered that question. If you want a quick answer please email me Goracer, sales@autornd.com. I'll get you what you need.

OK JUST GOT OFF PHONE WITH RB:

1. BUILD TIME IS 4-6 WEEKS FROM DATE OF ORDER SO PREPLAN YOUR SUMMER EVENTS.

ORDER NOW!!!!!!!! BEFORE THE WAITING LIST JUST GROWS TOOO MUCH.

2. NO BRAKE CLEARANCE DIAGRAM AS YET. AS SOON AS I GET A COUPLE SETS HERE TO LOCAL GUYS I CAN PRODUCE IT OR JUST WAIT FOR RB.

Pm or email for questions and answers. Anything public I will gladly post here to clear the air. i wasn't involved in this thread simply because there were so many desires and views on what should be made.

Now that RB has part numbers i can get specific answers in regards to them and post up the info here.

Thanks, Rishie

i believe i am correct that the offset for the BBK is the OEM offset.

the BBK is a major upgrade over the RB 2 piece rotor due to sizing. have you looked at my recently posted comparo pictures? BTW the stock dimensioned 2 piece should also be a significant upgrade V stock.

the BBK features a very recently upgraded RB caliper which takes an upgraded pad design and is not, as Rishie posted, a 350Z configuration.

as to 6 pot, 8 pot, 10 pot, RB operates in a linear manner. take a good look at the rotors. they are engineering marvels unlike anything you have seen and there are details that will not be made public. wait til you see the caliper. if you were to go to a larger front caliper it will be kiss the emergency brake goodby so you are pretty much talking pure track only.

so the drill is bolt them on, run them, evaluate them AND if for some reason the car needs more brake and there is demand for that level of additional capacity i personally wouldn't be surprised to see the product at some point.

do not categorize this system before it is track tested.

this all started Nov 15 06. up til then no one really gave a damn about the FD. we now have a killer purpose built system much of which is on my car and should be headed to the track within a couple of weeks.

as to BBK/OEM fit. no one at this point knows.

i fitted the rears and found i had to file most off the ribs of the caliper. it would probably fit if you wish to do this. i have no idea to what extent this would decrease caliper rigidity. i suspect it would be minimal but it is YOUR call. as to the front, since i don't have the front caliper i do not know. i did try to fit the M2 Ap calipers w 13 inch rotors to the OEM wheel and they fit to my amazement.

when i receive the calipers i will fit them to stock wheels and will post the outcome. RB has maintained the OEM offset in the front and there is NO further room to offset inboard.

WTG, RB

Rishie,

IS that time of order or time until they have few sets made? I'm in no big hurry and I kind of want to see how Howard does before I order a set. Can you PM me with pricing for front and rear (BBK).

Thanks!
