I don't think another 3 day vote is gong to have any significant impact on our delivery date.

Good point.

+1 for would pay extra for gray/green finish. Can we get a response on this from RB? I think there is strong interest for this third option.

So what do you guys think, 60-0 in less than 100ft I would assume. About 98 maybe?

RB's 4-corner kit has (almost exactly) the same bias as stock, so that depends completely on the tires. BBKs exist to handle more heat than the stock brakes.

We can understand the disappointment from those who selected greenish gray. In view of the fact that this choice is very close to red, and the supports we have received from you, we have decided to make this finish available w/o cost increase but with 2-4 weeks extended leadtime.

Like some members expressed we can’t possibly make everyone satisfied especially when it comes to color / finish while keeping our ship date. We have also explained to you that this hard anodizing although costs more than powder coating yet produce much more durable and lasting surface than conventional powder coating, which is the standard finish from most brake caliper mfgrs including our existing calipers.

RB is introducing this new surface treatment on calipers just like we introduced EDP (Electro Deposition Paint) - Black paint over rotor’s non friction surface for corrosion resistance four years ago which were followed by others.

The other disappointment comes from those who voted powder coating process mainly due to their disliking of the anodizing red. We can make real red available (for pre-orders only) but they must email us (w/order#) to confirm by tomorrow 6/16 with understanding that it will not be powder coating, but hard anodizing with liquid paint (process #3) which requires sometime to experiments and there will be a cost increase.

Warren - RB

For those that committed within the preorder timeframe and want anodized black or red what is the expected timeframe to receive our BBKs?

I was expecting early July... Can you confirm a realistic timeframe please?

We estimated to start shipping the kits with standard finishes (hard anodizing black or red) no later than mid July.

We are also checking and sourcing the required caliper mounting bolts and washers (must be shorter than stock due to the increase of rotor thickness). In doing this we also upgraded the bolts to grade 12.9 vs. stock 10.9 and ensure you have all the components for easy installation.

So, we can get the grey/green color we just have to email you? Is this the process?

I called and had Steve change my color selection:

Tel: 973-335-6898
866-680-9867 (toll free)

Toll free number doesn't seem to be working for me

No. That's dependent on tire compound and vehicle weight, not brake torque. You can only apply enough brake torque to lock up the brakes (or maintain them at the threshold of lock-up with ABS) and from that point on, your tires are actually stopping your car.

60 to 0 repeatedly in ~115 feet, sure, but you're not going to shave anything off your braking distance unless you reduce your car's weight and/or increase the width and grip of the tires.

I'm still trying to decide between the black and the grey......I think I like the grey better, but don't really want to wait that extra month......

Caliper color

We have received all the needed change and final confirmation on finish/color. 100% of pre-order customers have made their choice:

Black tops at 50%, with red and gray evenly split to 25% each. We hope no matter whatever color you have chosen you will like the durability and the performance of the calipers.

The estimated ship date is early to mid July.

I logged into my account at RacingBrake.com and changed my order to specify the color I wanted. I somehow wound up adding another set of BBK to my order but Steve emailed me to confirm the order and fixed the problem for me.

You guys might want to consider doing the same. Steve was very good at resolving the order and his service was great.

often, the Concept and the Reality don't exactly match...

w regard to RacingBrake's FD system: it's a match.

i just returned from a 250 mile trip to Green Bay to check on my dyno at Beyond Redline and really cranked on the brakes the whole trip. i have been breaking them in since last friday.

you will really like them.

i am running the ET500 aggressive-street pads.

the most interesting feature to me is how easy it is to find threshold at any speed. you can really ride the edge of lockup. caveat: i do not run ABS.

the wear pattern on the rotors is perfect. everything lines up.... so far not much dust, no squeel, no fade and right thru the windshield stopping power.

of course i haven't been to the track. i haven't used the ET900s... i am waiting for the rear ET900s and i haven't used the ET700s which i am looking forward to..

but so far, i rate them exceptional as to driver feel/feedback as well as quite powerful.

nice going RacingBrake, the FD has a new set of first class stoppers.

That's a VERY good obeservation. I had upgraded the calipers on my Mercedes, and I had to not only go to 16-inch wheels minimum, but they had to be a special offset to clear the width, AND I had to order a special spare to clear the front calipers.

Howard, have you tried the spare yet ?
