To FD guys running 245/45/16's on stock rims...

To you guys running 245/45/16's on stock rims...
What brand/model of tire are you using? I saw 245/45/16 Kumho Ecsta 712's on a stock FD rim. The fit looked good. The tire didn't look too wide for the rim. However, I know that not all 245's are the same width.
My current Bridgestone Pole Position S02's are 225/50/16 and seem to fit perfectly. I love these tires and will probably buy them again, but I'm afraid a 245/45/16 S02 will look funny on the stock rim.

I currently have Fuzion ZRi in the rear and Hankook Ventus RS2 in the front. Both are 245/45/16 and they dont look funny on the wheel. I also had Bridgestone S03 in the same size. They didnt look out of place either. I'll try to take a picture of my current setup for you.

The 8 inch wheel works great with any 245 size tire. Even Hoosiers which tend to run wide. I would highly recommend using 245s from now on

Actually 245/45r16 is the proper plus 0 fitment. general rule of thumb is +20mm width -5 from aspect ratio and same rim size will equal same overall tire diameter between both sizes.

I would put the 245s on the rear wheels and leave the 225s on the front. You dont need that big a tire on the front wheels. The car dont wieght that much.

The more rubber the better. Bigger contact patch w/ road surface, more lateral grip in turns, can rotate to rear to extend the life of the tire...there's no real downside here. Maybe if you were going to a 275 width there are other issues you'd have to be willing to trade off, but the switch to a 245 is a no brainer. ~10-12% more rubber on road = 10-12% more friction = 10-12% more speed through a turn. (Well, not exactly, but that's the rough thought process and general idea. )

I run 245/45/16's all around. I had them in the rear only previously. It looks so good with the 245's all around, and the traction increase is obvious. You really gotta wonder why they went with 225's in the first place.

I'm running 245/45/16 Toyo T1S on the stock wheels, no problems at all.
Also running 265/45/16 on 8.5 Kosei wheels, also no problem.
Someone asked why go to 45 Sidewall height instead of sticking with 50 when going to a 245 width from the stock 225.
The 45 is the percentage of the tire width that determines sidewall height.
245/50 is kind of tall.
Kind of like the 265/65/16's that are on the car right now, but with those on, there is no time to look at the speedometer, so it doesn't really matter if it is accurate or not. (autox tires )

I've got Victoracer V700s on my track wheels in 245/45 and Fuzion ZRis on my street wheels in 245/45. (both sets are stock FD wheels)
The Fuzions are a great street tire for the money. Decent grip (considering what they cost) and good wet traction too.
