FC RX7 Suspension Mods?

So I have a 1988 RX7 Convertible and I'm going to be looking into doing some upgrades, for now I know I really don't want to have to deal with adjusting the suspension, just some thing that will work well.

I am looking at getting Bilstein HD shocks which I've used with great success in my Subie. But I'm not sure what to get spring wise because I've heard convertible can ride higher up front. I'll also be getting a bushing kit, are there any other mods that I should look for?

I would say get the Tanabe GF210 since this is the lowest springs available for FC unless you find some RS*R which are discontinued I believe.

I have thought about the Tanabe GF210s, when you say lowest, do you mean cheapest or how much it lowers the car?

^^^He means lowest as in lowest to the ground.

Get some strut bars, bushing kit, struts/springs,adjustable end links. Then go from there.

Yeah that's the main plan, I was also contemplating a set of Tokico Blues, but can't find a whole on durability and how well they would be for some mountain driving, the main thing is that I like to drive aggressively sometimes, and would want something that matches up well. If the Tokico blues would be good enough or should I go with Bilstein.

My question still stands, how well will the Tokico Blues work in aggressive mountain driving.

The front Bilstein inserts are backordered till august, but the rears are available I think. I called around everywhere. Everyone drop ships from Bilstein, no one keeps them in stock.

I settled for some Tokico HP's from shox.com. I have heard more good than bad about them. If I ever need warranty, I deal directly with shox.com who are apparently very good.

I also got some Tanabe GF210's. From what I have read its a pretty decent pairing.

I was looking for them in March and ran into the same thing. Everyone said that there was an 8 week lead time for the fronts.

I was also told by one RX7 vendor that the Koni yellow inserts weren't even available at all any longer.

Yeah it really sucks. I was told the same thing about the Koni's, they have been discontinued. Bilsteins and Konis are the best IMO.

So no more of these beauties for my future FC track car:

Not to redirect the thread, but this is the only US based place I've come across that offers something similar.

Keep in mind that when lowering the rear more than about 1", you'll need extra parts to compensate for the increased negative camber or you'll end up chewing through rear tires in no time and it will compromize the handling of the car.

Cant compare to Koni/GC IMO but still decent.

For the rear camber i picked up a Racing Beat bar.
