Checking Real World Tire Clearance

The Kid put new wheels and tires on his '81 FB. (Deliberate not giving details as looking for an empirical test as The Kid listens to his Dad better when presented with actual observable evidence). Wheels have poke, so want to make sure they clear the fenders when suspension is compressed. Aside from driving the car hard at a speed bump and finding out the hard way, is there a way to test? Looked in to removing enough suspension components to cycle the wheel through its full travel but requires tools, skills (and a lift) that I don't have. Best I have been able to research is a concrete block under the tire of the wheel to be tested, jack up the opposite diagonal corner then get the largest friends I can find to sit on the fender. Any better ideas?
