Yes, it's poll time. Having trouble deciding between BBS RG-R DSK and Volk SE37K Titanium Silver.

RG-R setup would be 8.5 and 9.5 x 17, 37 and 38-mm offset, with 235/45 and 265/40 17 S-03s. Mini spare would be Rage Euro in 7 x 17 with 205/40-17 Falken GR Beta.

Volk SE37K setup would be 9 x 17, 40-mm offset all the way around plus a full size spare with 255/40-17 Continental Sport Contact 2 (N2).

I vote for the BBS RG-R. The SE37K looks too "spokey" or "wirey-like" compared to the RG-Rs.

As nice as the SE37Ks are,....I just never liked that design much.

The "k"s are a little too simple for me... it looks like they were machined by a home machinist who couldn't do curves yet. The "A"s look good in pictures of just the wheel, but whenever i see them actually on an FD, they don't look as good as i'd hoped... too many spokes or something.

For looks, the RG-Rs can't be beat... too bad the front wheel sizes aren't available. That really sucks. I'd almost consider using a spacer, since they look so good.

 

I like the BBS RG-Rs as well. What's the weight on those?

 

LoveBone, the 8.5 x 17, 37-mm offset fronts are 18.3 lbs. The 9.5 x 17, 38-mm offset rears are 17.8 lbs. The fronts have a 1.6-inch rim lip, the rears have a 2.7-inch rim lip (based on my calculations from offset, rim width, and brake clearances for each wheel). BTW, love the "camel toe" in your avatar LOL

 

So who voted for the SE37Ks and why was the "K" your choice over the RG-Rs?

 

The Volk SE37Ks are lighter by two pounds, 9 x 17, 40-mm offset should be about 16 lbs, based on maxcooper's weights of 15.4 and 16.6 lbs for 8.5 and 9.5 x 17 Volk SE37Ks. Also I really do love the symmetrical fitment of 255/40-17 all around with full-size spare in back for drivers eds. I was thinking of putting Toyo RA-1s on the SE37Ks if I go with them. Now do you see why I'm having trouble choosing??!!

I voted for the Ks. They are lighter and probably less expensive, and you have a full-sized spare wheel (if I understand that correctly) to use in case one gets hurt. They are very "light" visually, which I think is pretty cool if you have big brakes (which I know you do). I am very happy with my Ks.

I can't get over the CE28Ns looks...the SE37Ks look MUCH BETTER...I'm being swayed back toward the Ks, especially when I stare @ TAZ's old red FD3S with black Ks all around with 9 x 17, 40s...

I'd been checking out your website too Max. The Ks have huge caliper clearances, which I like...

Your decision is alot easier than mine, cuz you have road and track wheels, right? Just get the BBS for the road, and a set of black "k's" or TE-37s for the track.

Although since your staying with 9x17" wheels, i don't know why your not staying with the SSRs. They're pretty much the best looking wheel on a 3rd gen. If they made 18x10" versions, thats what i would have. Not sure what your trying to accomplish.

 

Yeah, I plan to keep the SSR Integral A2s either way. If I go BBS, then SSRs become track wheels. If I go Volks, then SSRs stay as road wheels. Was initially going for one set of wheels, but I find that just not possible, with the performance I'm used to with Hoosiers from last year. I figure the next best thing is to go with an r-compound tire I can drive to and from the track venue (like Toyo RA-1), within a reasonable distance--that for me is 300 miles one way...thus Mid Ohio from Indy is probably my limit for travel with R-compound tires like Toyo RA-1s.

I saw the SE37K in bronze and wasn't too impress with the angled spokes. They are not nice and tapered like the BBS. The Volks might be a little bit cheaper and lighter but I still dig the BBS.
