9.5 front and rear work ok?

got an option to buy some rims 9.5 inches front and rear with a 45 mm offset.

My question is I know 9.5 is ok for the rears but will 9.5 fit for the fronts? i have Tein coilovers.
also the bolt pattern is 5 41/2 from a newer Mustang,i dont know if that means 114 or not, anyone knows that would be great, thanks,C.

yep, 5/4 1/2 = 5/114.3

if you have aftermarket coil-overs, you should be ok for room, depending on your ride height setting, not sure about that offset though, most people running 18x10s have +50 offset

You will have to run 255/35 18s on the fronts, 285/30 is too wide for 9.5 inch rims and no one makes a 275/30 18 tire

actually, that pretty much means you'll have to run 255/35s all around to maintain stock wheel+tire diameters

Re: 9.5 front and rear work ok?

You really need 50-mm offsets for 9.5-inch wheels to work up front. This will keep the tire shoulder away from the fender lips. A 265/35-18 will be the proper width, as rynberg posted, 285/30-18 is too wide for that tire size to work properly on your rim.

Was the reasoning behind Ryanberg suggesting255/35 front and rear ,for handling and balance ? 285 rear imo.

A Max cooper post concerning 285/30,s on the rear working with stock heights was well taken.
That would be my preference provided I can find the tires.

Does 265/35 or 275/35 work as well ?because I have seen more tire choices in those sizes, thanks,
C.

Wheels from a newer Mustang? That's it...we're not helping anymore until you get proper wheels for your FD Rx7

PM Rishie for a nice set of SSR Comps in 50-mm offsets, sized 9.5 x 18 all the way around with 265/35-18s.

I run 18x9.5" all the way around with 265/35/18 Kumho 712's, 45mm offset. They fit fine. My rear fenders are rolled and there's TONS of room back there. I could probably run a 295 and a 285 would be just about perfect. Up front, as long as you're not TOO low, you should be fine. I've been. I also run Tein HA's.

I'll be running 18x9.5 with a 47mm offset [c'mon Rishie !!!]all around with 265/35R18 Kumho Ecsta V700s. My calculations didn't show any problems, but I confirmed with Rishie anyway before I ordered the wheels. And reading that Michel has no problems removes any residual concerns. But, I also run adjustable coilovers with 2-1/2" springs and M2 trailing arms. Basically, that gives me (and Michel) more clearance toward the centerline of the car.

mp5: It's not a matter of whether 285s will fit in back. You should not mount a 285/30 tire on a 9.5 inch rim. If you go to tire rack and look up tires in that size, you will see that the minimum rim width should be 10". I would not go against that advice. Stick with 255/35 or 265/35s.

On SOME tires (most). Pirelli Asymmetricos say 9" min and Pirelli Rosso's 9.5". It has been pointed out that the 9" must be a mistake but I'm just relaying the point that tire rack does post those.

Also, Tire Rack held up a shipment for me and argued not to have 245/45/16's in the front which I ordered all around. I had to agree that they would put it was against their recommendation and they released the order....they will of course be conservative. 245/45/16's work just fine on my car, with Eibach springs and Tokico 5-ways.

I have also seen the 285/30's in PP03's on a car and they looked just fine. I think for the *street* this is acceptable depending on tire from all my reading and what I have seen.

Buying wheels and tires is not like an exact science, its kinda fuzzy........fuzzy science!!

I will probably put some 265/35 Nitto555 or Toyo,s t1s on front and back, thanks for the advice guys,

C.

Funny you say that ,I just searched and people dont rate Nittos at all,but they look WIDE for their size.

Toyo T1s get good reviews from fellow Fd owners,
they are light but they only make a 285/35 ,bit tall ,not a 285/30...S03,s could work, more $ and weight though.

Mabey i,m forgetting a few ,thanks,

C.
