I brought that point up because some dufus was making a comment on "weak" offsets.
It wasn't about stretching.
I would never do that, cause I prefer skill over trying to **** with the tire / wheel combination to get the car to handle how I want to.

I ordered a set of 17x9's with 215/40R17 azenis on them (which is a pretty damn big stretch) from discount tire direct.... does that count as a authorized tire dealer? (no, its not local). but I have local shops mount tires for me all the time....
Discount tire actually sold you a set like that mounted?

no matter who does it, falken is not going to sponsor a car that is built to the point where it won't win. that would be like them getting a driver that can't drive good enough to win. they may not build the car themselves, but they sure is hell aren't going to put their name on, and pay for a car that can't win.
So how many times did that Falken car win?

you're right, almost all types of motorsports do deal with tire failures. and how many of these failures are DUE to the tires being stretched? if the tires are failing and causing the drivers to loose BECAUSE they are stretched, and manufacturers know that not running stretched tires will make the tires not fail.... or even decrease the chances of them failing, which would significantly increase the chances of them winning, do you think they would start running tires that aren't stretched? hell yes they would. I don't think they would hesitate to sacrifice a style that 99% of people don't notice if it will significantly increase their chances of winning.
Your comment just contradicted what some of the other idiots were talking about...
Performance and fitment.
Thank you for your comments.

nope, they're Panasports 17x8.5 +18 and 17x9.5 +18. Can't remember if they're 2 piece or 3 piece nor the model. I'll have to take a look at the tag in the inner wheel.

so, how come the thread starter isn't posting anymore? i want some answers!

oh, okay. I thought it was supposed to be about stretching. but yes, I agree. I prefer skill over car adjustment as well.

Discount tire actually sold you a set like that mounted?
yep. mounted, balanced, shipped to my door.

So how many times did that Falken car win?
wasn't really talking about a particular car, or even 'falken tires' specifically. just using them as an example.

My friend has 18x10 255/40/17's and 18x9 225/40/17s In the 5-zigen fn01r-Cs and all his sit flush. The back is stretched a BIT but its not even really noticable. Ill get pics of i can. Those works look disgusting. Ruined a pefectly good set of wheels. The trend of stretched tires is not in the rx7 world...because as rich stated...if you were making any decent power to have the tires spin when i get on the gas...you wouldnt be getting tires that small on those 10s. There is NO reason for it...it looks stupid..the point of an offset is to sit flush with the fender..and fit as much rubber on there at the same time.

a 30 offset and 35 offset is easily doable on an FC.

but the thread starters' offset are +17 front and+4 rear. Now imagine about 20mm pushed out from where your wheels sit now. how can that be possible on stock fenders?

I just don't get what exactly what the hell the point of getting some big *** wheels, just to rubber-band some tiny-*** tires over them, doesn't make any sense and to me it looks stupid.

hey dorifto_PG, just wandering, what car are you getting when you sell your S13?(or do you already have one?) I've been drooling over your S13 for a while now... so I can't wait to see what you do with the next one.

then you must be an idiot. do you also like the inability to turn?

the size, wheel, and offset he posted up, they shouldn't be functional. can't even turn the wheel without shredding it up.
