Were those the rims off that guys black S14 that he ended up running from the cops in and crashing?

They are SSR Prof's correct?

Looks good, but go widebody and put proper tires on!

Just don't drive it... first time you pull into a parking lot and those tires go up into the fender well, those front wheels are gonna bend the hell out of your fenders

These wheels cost than most of your cars, I smell envy.

Curbing wheels? Never.
Improper tires? How about you guys and your whack offsets.

I doubt his wheels were 20k. No one used to put these obsurd undersized tires on until the drift fad came in but, they look like they belong on a 240. I too run 10inch wheels in the rear so I can fit my 275/40 drag radials.

I smell manufacturers published recommendations.

The widest rim you're supposed to mount a 225/40/18 on is 9"... Ideal is 8"

The widest rim you're supposed to mount a 235/40/18 on is 9.5" Ideal is 8.5"

I doubt many of these people's cars are worth $20k....

and VW guys did... they do all kinds of crazy things. I saw a few BMW's with super stretched race tires too before I even knew what drifting was.(which was a while ago).

there are also a lot of guys trying to put 245's on a stock 16x7, but manufacturers recommend no smaller than 7.5 for a 245. and I've seen a lot of people put 255's on an 8, but you're supposed to have at least 8.5 for a 255. no one ever says anything about putting too BIG of a tire on a wheel...

why do people care so much about what someone else puts on his own car?

Its not so much that I care what he puts on his car, I said the first time that his car was clean none the less, but its not a popular style here At least I think. Everyone can can what they'd like but. Just expect people to tell their dislikes when you post on an open forum, Personally I love the way my car looks but, Im sure some disagree somewhere.

I've "said things" about putting too big a tire on a rim size plenty of times... you should use the sizes that are supposed to fit. Tires are a FUNCTIONAL part. You want them to function correctly...

Exactly. I have 18x9.5 wheels on all four corners, and I run a 265/35r18 tire, which is the max recommended size for most tire manufacturers. Sure I could "fit" a 285, hell even a 305 on there if I wanted, but the functionality isnt there for it and I dont really have the wheel to support it. Same goes as for if i stuck a 225 tire on my wheels, there really isnt a point, other than a fad which needs to go away.

They are saying that they do not understand why people do that. But apparently when I run 245/40/18 on my 10.5s the tires are going to rip off my rims, slam into a small child's face, and maime the poor bastard beyond recognition. If doing all this **** we are not supposed to do is so bad, at least my tire should have ripped off sometime in the last 3 years I've been doing this "non functional fad". Or perhaps my "function" is stiffer sidewall to help predictability and consistancy while drifting, and also allowing for some gangster wheel fitment while we're at it. Yes. Functional objectives achieved.

You're right, my car is worth a lot more than that. I don't think it really matters though.

To each his own, but I wonder how miles that setup will go without a curbing? ouch.

Uh yeah.

Fikses aren't as nice as Work wheels. You shouldn't pay any attention to tire manufacturers specifications for their product because they're idiots, and proper offsets that actually clear the fenders when the car is doing anything except sitting still and screwed down on the coilovers with the camber maxed out are "crap".

Naw, don't pay attention to that silly physics and engineering, that ****'s just hating on your mad tyte style yo!

Geez, if that's your definition of having *****, you're operating on an entirely different planet than us performance-oriented old men.

Fikse are crap alright. driving an FD made to resemble a giant eggplant is much more preferable.

Here, I'll save you from your own ignorance. read this:

Not really...

I got like 5 sets of wheels sitting around, but I'm too lazy to put them on.

Do you know the exact specs of those wheels and tires?
Yeah, I thought not...

How about...
You're running a tire / wheel combination that is NOT RECOMMENDED BY THE GOD DAMN TIRE MANUFACTURER.

Do you think you know something that the company that DESIGNED their OWN tires?
Bullshit.
So top spouting this crap.

Tire manufacturers offer recommended tire fitments and tire widths for a reason.
They don't pull this **** out of their asses like you do.
They put in MILLIONS of dollars to figure this out.
How much did you spend to figure out your conclusions?
I bet it's NOT millions.

You're kidding yourself if you figured out some secret that the tire manufacturers didn't know about.

It comes down to this...
THIS HIPPARI CRAP IS BECAUSE POOR CAR OWNERS CAN'T AFFORD PROPER WIDTH TIRES.
It turned into a fad, cause other people thought it was cool.
Stop fooling yourself.

If it did increase handling performance, why isn't top-tier motorsports doing it?
Oh, they don't?
What a surprise...

I pity your car.

I like to think this of my car:

Cars are meant to be driven.
I build my car NOT to break.
I cross my fingers nothing does break.
If it does break, THEN I fix it.
I do NOT expect my car to break.

Maybe that's why you have a twisted view on things?
