16X8 205/55 front 16x9 225/50 16 back. What are your impressions?

I want to put 16X8 205/55 front 16x9 225/50 16 back on my FC. Does anyone have experience on this setup?

I will be using the setup for open track road course work.

What do you think?

Llew.

Why don't you just run 225/50 on 16x8s all around? I believe FCs can run the stock FD wheels with a 10-12mm spacer (chime in here FC guys). There are always sets of FD stock rims for sale for ~$400. You won't find a better 16x8 wheel for 3 times the cost.

From my experience with a few TIIs and one GTU, I would say do NOT stagger the tire/wheel sizes. I'd get the same size all around. The understeer of 205/225 setup sucked when I used it.

The 3rd gen wheels would be a nice, inexpensive setup on the FC. Stock TII rims aren't bad either, but 8" width is better.

Hmmm, I wonder if using the same tire size all around would work out. The wider wheel in the rear would effectively stiffen the spring rate of the tire side wall.

FD wheels are a good deal and look nice too. I went ahead and bought the staggered wheels. The guy had another buyer lined up but I had dibs. Plus I liked the look of these wheels. Maybe they will just be street wheels since I only race on the track.

With that in mind do you think same size tire with all around would work.

I'm thinking 205/55 16 all around since I don't have a lot of power.

Here is my setup. It's an 87.

Apexi Shocks, Suspension techinque springs, camber plates, front and rear tie bars, Rudecustomerservicetrix endlinks stock bars. toe elimiators.

Engine.
S5, S5 turbo, 2.5dp, Apexi N1, no emissions.

Good luck finding a 16x9" wheel to start with.

Yikes they are 16x9.5 measure from the inside.

I Just bolted the 16X9.5 up to the car. Now it's just a matter of tire sizing.

Well, I went ahead and put 205/55 16 Azenis on the front and an old set of 225/50 16 A008R on the back.

I like it a lot so far. The tail stay planted when I apply full power around tight corners yet I can still get oversteer if I want it.

The car has a very nice stance. I'll get pics up as soon as I can get them hosted.

No understeer yet. I think the Azenis are stickier than the old A008Rs
