New Turbo GT3574 (Non-BB 35R)

This is a new turbo I did up here for the demand I was getting for a non-BB 35R. Garrett does sell a non-bb GT35 but it uses a smaller 76mm compressor as oppossed to the larger 82mm wheel of the "R" model. Ours also uses a larger more rotary friendly 74mm turbine as opposed to the 68mm turbine of the standard 35R. This offers a very nice 1.1 wheel ratio as well as slightly increased flow out the turbine.

Here is a comparison

GT35 76mm comp, 68mm turbine.
GT35R 82mm comp, 68mm turbine.
GT3574 82mm comp, 74mm turbine.

As stated above this was a need that definitely needed filling as I get more emails about non-bb 35R's than anything else. So there you have it

It would be more comparable to a 35RT4 hp wise. It should do slightly better though up top due to the larger turbine wheel. It obviously also wont have the response that a same sized bb-unit would have. The ones I have sold so far all ordered it with the .84 turbine housing to get the better response. The 500R is more of a high boost type turbo. It makes good power with good response but it also allows for higher boost than the 35R or 3574.

You will like it I'm sure. We got held up on some stainless transitions but all should start moving again.

Wow!!! Sean, the GT3574 kit is AMAZING!!!! I just picked up the car from KDR today. I ran out of injectors, but we did hit 437rwhp and 340 torque. This was with 15lbs creeping to 16.5 lbs near the end. The best part...... the torque curve still had not fallen off!!! The turbo is awesome. Dave wanted me to tell you its "THE" turbo for rotarys. Hands down his favorite. Thanks again Sean, I'll have the dyno sheets posted later this weekend.

Nice!! This makes me salivate even more over the 500r that's on it's way to me right now

Edit: Seth, what injector/pump setup are you running?

hey guys, I'm running 4x 720cc injectors. We hit 90% duty cycle so we stopped. I have the rx7.com comp fuel pump. I'll install a pair of 1000cc secondaries over the winter (won't need an upgraded secondary rail for that) and come back next year, try 17lbs. Dave thinks it will do 450-455 no prob.

A little more seat time and I'll post up about the boost response.

Man, that's not a lot of injector at all. I just checked your profile and saw you're running a TII (I assumed an FD) so that explains it.

When I made 420 I was getting towards the edge of my 850/1300s......

why did you start the pull so late (3800 rpm) and end it so early (6800 rpm)?

Big numbers are great and all but I just want it to run right and Dave knows that. We get a ball park range of the power but im not trying to squeak every last hp off the dyno, I just want it running right. Probably stopped early because we got really high duty cycles that time, 90-92% I'm not complaining tho =) I'll come back next year with some more fuel for safety margin and be done.

I think you're gonna love that 500r kit.

btw: Rest of the setup is:

90 TII, reman KDR street port motor, Microtech LTX12, greddy 2 row fmic, Aspec GT3574 w/ .84 housing, racing beat 3 inch exhaust, the 4x 720cc injectors and rx7.com pump.

i doubt they like you giving out price quotes when you don't work there.

better not be 1200-1400 for non BB
i would expect it to be in that range for BB.
my guess was ~800 since the GT4088 is $850

id like to hear what Zero R has to say though.

Funny I thought the same thing, lol. He might have it mistaken with the 35RT4 which is BB.

id like to hear what Zero R has to say though.

It costs just a bit more than the GT4088 due to having to actually make the thing versus pulling one of the shelf. While it isn't a bigger turbo than the 88 it is a more application focused one

Very good to hear your getting what you wanted out of it. 437@15lbs on a .84 must be fun!! Looks like you have a nice flat torque curve as well. Tell Dave thanks, I'll keep trying to get these things dialed in better and better for you guys. I think this turbo is exactly the ticket for those who wanted the 35R but don't want to deal with BB costs.
