Compressor Tip Wear
Sean,
You probably already heard my motor is blown again.
Anyways I wanted your professional opinion on the compressor tip wear observed on my 500R. Personally I think this is normal wear and tear (5K miles) and should be okay to be put back together and run as is. Though, before I do that I wanted your opinion on it. It looks like I got lucky and didn't shot out an apex seal, hoping it a side seal.
Thanks,
Adam

Compressor wheel looks fine sir, I think you mean turbine wheel
it looks to me as it is FOD related more than erosion, I rarely see erosion and when I have it isn't bending the tips on the ones I have seen, can you confirm nothing was spit through the turbo?

Doh! Yeah I mean turbine wheel, lol, I need to slow down and get more sleep.
I will be comfirming the spit question either this Sunday or the following weekend. I'll keep you posted.
After looking at the tips your right some do look like they were caused by FOD. Some of this could have been caused by flaking of turbine housing. Though the damage isn't that bad, would you agree?

A-Spec, but in his defense ceramic coatings don't last forever. When I added heat shielding the heat intensity on the turbine housing went up a few hundred degrees. The ceramic coating on the header is still intacted amazingly.
